Rick, thanks for blogging this season - keep it up! It's great hearing other points of view on this great series.

As for the mole, I forgot her name - the one played by Aisha Tyler. She was dispatched fairly early, but I'm not so sure she was placed deep enough in ctu to have enough valuable info anyway.

With Jack, Tony, Palmer, and Michelle retired, I can see Jack going freelance while the other three give support from a distance. Someone's gotta pay that cell phone bill!

Kevin -

There's nothing odd about a politician wanting to destroy American heroes and protect known terrorists. <a href="http://www.thechristianright.com/archives/2005/05/more_consistenc.html" target="new">Call him "Howard Dean"</a>.

Yeah, thanks for the blogs this season. I like hearing what other people think abotu the series.

Speaking of which, did any one else find it odd that the presidential advisor who didn't want to toruture a terrorist was the same one with the idea of killing one of our own agents? Seems a bit of a reversal, but as you pointd out this show has many such points (Toms about the Chinese one of them).

Swordfish wasn't at all about good men doing what it takes to protect this country. I do love the idea of Jack going "Rainbow Six" and putting together an international team of counter terrorists, possibly with the administrative team run by Tony and Michelle. They'd possibly have less in the way of resources, but they could have less restrictions on their actions and a whole lot less bickering with "Division". Palmer could be the liason for foreign relations. I'd appreciate it most if it was done as a capitalistic enterprise, but obviously that wouldn't go over too well on network TV. I just think that CTU's time has come and gone - "24" should be a story about Jack, not about Jack at CTU.

Intriguing question: What will Jack's name be next season?

Rick - I love the fact that you blogged this series. I got in a little late on the action, but this is good stuff. Definitely makes the show more involving and fun, and I've checked your blog for new comments on these posts a whole lot more than any other threads. Thanks for facilitating our enjoyment.

#3 Diamond - must be "Swordfish" (2001). Have not seen it but it is the only "fish" movie for Travolta.

I don't know if I missed this in your posts this a.m., but I think the least plausible point (or, if you will, the biggest plot hole) is what happens now with the Chinese. I guess I buy that the Secret Service guy is taken in by Jack's stopped heart (if that is what happened), but what happens next? Palmer calls the Chinese embassy and tells them - oops, Jack Bauer tried to escape and was killed in the escape? And then we are supposed to believe that they will say something like "OK, thanks for calling"? I find it totally unbelievable that the Chinese will not (a) insist on some proof of death and that the dead guy is Jack Bauer (remember, they have a database of CTU agents they used to get a photo of Bierne) and (b) that even if they were somehow convinced that Bauer is dead they will not insist on escalating the issue to whether higher-ups were involved.

What is that saying that saids that a camel (I don't know which animal, I'll go with camel) is an animal put together by committee!

Sometimes there can be too many cooks. There were so many writers and advisers on 24 this season.

Remember back to the O.J. trial. The State kept inviting in more Asst.D.A. to show boat on their expertise. Things got disjointed and soon went into the craper. We all know the out come. Seems that has happened here. Granting access to writers for various reasons does not serve 24 well, the whole season seemed to be cut and paste, jumping from here to there. Abruptly ending story lines and starting new ones.

So they stopped the nuke, almost in a split second. Anti-climatic. Marwan, a truly enjoyable baddie, gone in a wisp! Mother, son, what the f***. Apparently the writer for those two had another gig
to go to. When a show gets popular, like 24, people want to jump on the band wagon. And of course the producers want to hand out writing "Plums"

I'll be back next season, hope that Jack has gone "postal" and is doing free-lance "ops" All in the interest of America. Jack will forever be a patriotic American and probably assembles a team that we will root for. Does anyone know the name of the movie something Fish, John Travolta starred in it. Good men, willing to do what it takes to protect this country.

Thanks for sticking with me Sue. I really enjoyed your comments. You hit the nail on the head more than once.

I will say about the SS that there is an unwritten code that they not reveal things that otherwise would be interesting. The reason is they have to have the absolute trust of the man they're guarding. The SS has been the keeper of Presidential secrets for a long time.

That said, it's doubtful that Cummings could have manuevered Spaulding into the spot of picking up Jack - in real life. But your comment was spot on about them knowing each other.

Love to see Mandy a full time villain next year. She's hot and deadly...a great combo. Maybe Jack will be conflicted and fall in love with her.

Yikes! Don't go there.

ok, i'm back. spaulding was not a random agent. he and cummings have a relationship and both are doing a lot of logan's dirty work. i respect and admire the secret service and it's probably true that 99% of them are honorable, but people are people. i personally know a ex-secret serviceman who was in the clinton white house and let me tell you that they were witness to a lot of shameful stuff going on within its walls. and remember there wer 2 cops who were 'required' to find women for billie boy. spaulding is an exception and cummings knew who to call and how to arrange who would pick up jack.

the epinephrine. there's a clinic in ctu. fake blood? agents probably have a closet full of stuff to help them pull off their deceptions. i did wonder about the dead body they were going to pass off as jack's, though. maybe it was one of the many agents that got killed going after marwan or the consulate.

another possible set up for jack's future: mandy got total immunity. will she and jack cross paths again???

and about the lingering questions and holes. they could've pursued what happened to burn, etc., but i'd lose my mind or start drinking if this show turned into 48. i would make sure to become a faithful patron of any advertisers who would pay for more story time and crowd out the massive commercial time. it's my goal to be tivo-ed at our house by next season. the amount of commercials was ridiculous!!!!

and i hope you are blogging next time, too. it's been part of what's made this so fun!!
