Black redneck hit the nail on the head. Almost without exception the Pat Buchannen gang that just kicked our president in the gut is expecting him to thank them for stabbing him in the back. He is not going to choose Luddig or Powell. If we John Paul Stevens keeled over tomorrow No one on Laura Ingrams short list has a chance in hell of getting nominated. Has it ever occured to you that the President might actually disagree with you? What ego!

It is really amazing to me that the people who spent the last 3 weeks trashing the president and his friend now expect him to select their preferred candidate. Hmmmm….it seems to me that Luttig, McConnell, et al just got assigned to the trash bin along with Miers.

Everyone seems to be pointing the finger and assigning blame to the White House. Although they do deserve a significant protion of the blame, it’s time we also assign some of the blame to McCain and the gang of seven.

We have been heard and we are energized. Let’s now focus that energy on McCain and solve that issue too.

All you so-called â€œconservativesâ€ surely know that they donâ€™t come much more conservative than the Cato Institute, at least on fiscal policy. Well the Cato Institute has concluded that George W. Bush and the Republican Congressional Majority has been viciously screwing you, me and every other ordinary American. Rick,
This is a great day. While the Left will spin this as weakness or caving to the wing nut conservatives, the truth is, conservatives held to their core principles without personally attacking Miers. I gave Miers the benefit of the doubt and held my reservations until the hearings. When the speech information began to appear, it was clear that Miers was not suitable for the Court. There had been no mention of democrats in this debate, Roe was not the issue but the clear standards of judicial adherence to the Constitution. I think it can be said, this is a victory for the Party and the Conservative movement. The David Gurgens, Andy Cards, old GOP get along with Georgetown crowd have been defeated once and for all. Bush 41 paid a high price to acquiesce to them, Bush 43 almost made the same mistake. Powell was a terrible Secretary of State, a principled Rice has accomplished more in 6 months than the lovable Georgetown Powell could ever expect to. This is the beginning of Bush’s rise to real power, winning the judicial fight on principle, will make them fear him.

With the title “The Best Possible Outcome”, I thought you were talking about the World Series. Oh. That was the previous post. Congrats!

But to the topic at hand. I didn’t have strong feelings about the Miers nomination to begin with, but I thought Bush missed a great opportunity by trying to avoid the fight that he would have had over someone like Janice Rogers Brown. Let’s have that fight.
