Hugh Hewitt thinks too much like a political operative and not enough like a conservative philosopher. His show is dedicated not to the pursuit of the truth, but to advancing the Republican Party; there is a difference. His rare criticisms of Bush exist only to give him something to point to when he receives criticism like this.

I once heard Hewitt berate a caller for going off message. The caller was a Republican with some gripe about Bush’s policies. Hugh cut him off, saying something like, “This is your chance to talk to millions of people and you’re wasting your precious seconds going after Bush?”

Hewitt is intelligent and nice and he’s not a screamer like Savage, but he’s too much the spinmeister.

I love Glenn’s blog and I seriously believe that if Glenn did not exist we would be forced to invent him but, surely, when you characterized him as &#a true Renaissance man” you meant the Swiss Renaissance (which produced the cuckoo clock) rather than the Italian Renaissance (which produced Dante, the revival of learning, and humanism).

Rightwingnuthouse is seriously the only place I have found to be both entertaining and smart. I have so much frustration about the media in general. There is so much crap out there that people listen to and believe. No one is there to challenge it besides the good people who run these blogs. “The Shape of Days” is the best blog on the Internet, hands down, and its proprietor is a god among men.

Heh. Sorry. It’s just that I’ve been on hiatus for six weeks and I’m trying to generate buzz around my upcoming triumphant return to the ’sphere. Check my site for updates, and forgive my shameless shilling.

On the subject of things that are shameless, here’s some shameless sucking up: Rick’s site is one of the few that I continued to consistently check while I was on hiatus. There are a few things I find hard to tolerate; glibness and snideness are among them. Rick’s writing is refreshingly free of either.

Very similar is Ed Morrissey’s site, “Captain’s Quarters.” Once you sort of embrace the fact that Ed cannot write anything short, period, you can realize that he’s one of the best opinion writers blogging today.

But seriously, no kidding. My site leaves them all behind. Ahem.
