I worked for Billie Sol after his release from Federal Prison in the early 90's. All of his employees at his business except for me were ex-cons. He helped a lot of people. He knew how hard it was for an ex-con to earn a living, so he helped as he could. I will always think of him as a best friend and second father. We had some fascinating conversations and yes he was a con man, but he was like Robin Hood to me, as I said he helped a lot of people. I am just so sorry I lost touch with him. Billie if you are out there send me an email at casey9495@iwon.com. I would love to catch up with you. I used to run your FT Worth office. You will remember 5'2" Blond lady.

Mr. Billie Sol Estes is in our office right now in Fort Worth. He is a small feeble man, but not short on stories by any means. He says he "don't care what anybody else says"...and he's still "wantin to work....dabblin in the oil business". Interesting character to say the least.

I was there in the early 60's. I had a custom harvest business out of Casa Grande, Az. working in South Texas.

I was aquanted with a man in Pecos who was afowl of the law in Casa Grande.

The name of my business was Southwest Agricultural Service and oh yes I was financed by Pacific Finance.
And an ex U.S.D.A. employee

Lucky me.

My motel room was searched and ramsacked the first night
I was busted for Federal Road Use Tax.

Everone involved was drawing a government check except me.

It is Sunday, December 24, 2006 at about 2:30 PM PST. What in the Hell made me think of Billie Sol after all these years and run a Google on him? I must need some more Christmas eve brandy.

I conceed the point of your honesty. But the truth is, by the time I got done reading the post I had forgotten that fact.

Hey, maybe we could live without the insults?

The man himself spelled his name Billie Sol and he is still alive.Recently he published a book detailing his life--and the involvement of LBJ in John F. Kennedy's assassination. See:

I'm sorry you didn't read the post. Miss this?

"Now before you lefties have a knipshit, I have every reason to believe any investigation of Goss is probably genuine. What I question is the speculation regarding his “activities” being leaked at this time."

I was right to put that in there because idiots like you CD had a knipshit BECAUSE YOU NEVER READ WHAT YOU ARE COMMENTING ON!

Perfect, you've followed the rightwing format to the letter. Gotta problem with one of your own? Find a liberal with a similar problem and make the story about them. It's a big plus if you can make their sins much worse than your guy's. Next, attack the those reporting on the trouble for your guy. Then create a rational as to why there is no problem at all.

You didn't have to go back 45 years, however, to find a Texan with a big political scandal. I can't wait to see how you handle Tom DeLay's up coming indictment for selling your government to the highest bidder. DeLay, born again hypocrite, has put a good spin his announced resignation from congress, but the "hammer" is falling on one of the worst, if not the worst, political sandals in American history.

My dad worked for LBJ was good friends with Mr. Estes. I remember driving to Pecos with my dad to pick up a package(an envelope with $50,000 inside) that we took to someone in ElPaso. The thing that struck me the most, here's this rich sonoffabitch and he lives in a craphole like Pecos. His house smelled funky too.
He was really nice to me though and had a fridge loaded with soda pops that I drank till I nearly burst.

I thought I was the only one who remembered ol' Billy Sol. (What a great name!)

A Texan who worked for a Texan who was chairman of a House committee told me years ago that Texans were taught that their main goal in life was "to fleece Yankees." Ol' Billy Sol was just living up to his upbringing.

Don't forget Sen. Kerr!
