Jack gave him his word that he would help him disappear if he helped him kill Bierko. Any one with Henderson’s experience would know the weight of the gun was off (i.e. unloaded). During one of the four-screen transitions, it shows Henderson being wheeled out on a stretcher. The only reason 24 would show that is to signal that Henderson will stay in the picture. The Navy guy witnessing the event also had to be a factor. Henderson is Jack's doppelganger, the man who truly understands him, too valuauble to kill off -- yet #5 is also on target. Maurice O'Brien will be a fresh breath for the show, a great match for Chloe and a badly needed element of humor. #4 makes an extremely good point about Henderson not being dead.
