I saw a TV ad for "The Nation" magazine on TV today. I am going to assume they don't like Republicans. I am also going to assume they are for the most part pompous idiots.

I just read an article about America and the World Cup. The ding dong's were going on and on about how American fans viewed our participation of the World Cup as a militaristic venture. They claim that one of the larger fan club's "Sam's Army" help perpetuate that image. Anyone who understand's international sports realizes such statements are inane. The United States is mild in its "militaristic ambitions". I remember seeing pictures of German fans before the Poland game that read "17 mininutes in '38. 90 minutes in '06". Polish fans were wearing shirts that stated all of the military victories their nation had against Germany. All nations view sports as different form of battlefield. Look at back at why the recent Olympics haven't done as drawing crowds. During the Cold War, it was the only place where the Soviets battled with the Americans(well except one air battle during the Korean War.)

The boobs who wrote the article probably have little experience dealing with athletics first hand. It may be melodramatic to compare any game to war, but that is just how many people view the strategy and intensity of sporting events.

Guys sorry for my Dennis Miller rant. The Nation just bugs me. I just can't put my finger on the reason why.

"...In short, this is not so much Kos cracking the whip to keep people in line but rather the reluctance of many on the left to challenge his position and authority".

One of the biggest criticisms of the 'Right' is that "they eat their own" when it comes to questionable "ethics" of operation. The left doesn't do this at all...it seems. But they are I think, closing ranks in their own; "the end justifies the means" way and talking only to themselves in an ever shrinking universe. Their positions aren't changing many minds or collecting many new recruits.

"...And the details that are emerging, while revealing nothing illegal, certainly call into question Mr. Moulitsas’ ethics and thus, the ethics of all bloggers..."

Please, do not associate any decent blog with Kos. His ethics have already been in question by anyone possessing a remote knowledge of facts and capable of something beyond freshman "fuzzy study" logic. There may be dishonest blogs there, and Kos is most certainly a baseline by which they should be judged...BUT, there a good many really great ones out there. (Of course, this is one of them...:)...)

Kos will not suffer for the appearance of impropriety. I doubt if he will lose a single reader. I doubt whether his influence will decline one iota on the left.

A true market situation would cause him to absorb a hit of some kind. I don't see it.

Will it hurt him in the wider world of Democratic politics? If he can still raise half a million bucks in less than 2 weeks, the answer to that question is self evident.

No need to worry about blogs becoming contaminated with influence. The market is ultimately smart and will sniff such compromises out, just as Kos has been sniffed and found conflicted. Rather, the the best blogs will be transparent abd truth-rich. For example, as long as this blog is what it represents itself to be, with the high quality and integrity we've delighted in so far -- market share will continue to grow. Kind of like Says Law -- cheap truth drives out expensive truth.

Any McCain-Feingold implications here? Two radio hosts in Washington state, including Kirby Wilbur, were successfully sued recently under McC-F after a court decided their on-air support of a local referendum amounted to political advertising.

Dear Mr. Moran: I, as a conservative, live by two rules 1) all legistlation should be passed on even years and revoked on odd years & 2) do not ever give money to politicians- it only encourages them. Best regards, Steve Thill Madison, WI

Dan Riehl notes that Armstrong also had a history as an astrologist and analyzes why the netroots will fail. I love this conclusion:
"I predict the Dems will take all fifty states when Venus aligns with Jupiter and kisses Mars butt. Pardon me if I don't ask the latest Democrat wizard-kid what he has to say about that."www.riehlworldview.com/ca...troot.html
Riehl has dug up one of Armstrong's astrological political projections..LOL..http://web.archive.org/web/20030211083944/astroworld.mydd.com/archives/000384.html
