Since the man has no core, no convictions he'll say or do anything that in his calculation will get him closer to the oval office. With his proclivity for marrying rich heiresses, he could live a life of leisure but his overwhelming ambition drives his life. He's reaching for something he'll (hopefully) never get. Not many people in life want anything as badly as Kerry wants to be president. Since the man has no core, no convictions he’ll say or do anything that in his calculation will get him closer to the oval office.
