Lebanon can do the right thing here and together with REAL INTERNATIONAL PEACEKEEPERS on the border, not any Koffecanon would send in, and together they can stand these bastards off.
Surely they must know Isreal does not wish them harm, just the murderers.

Lebanon certianly has a delima, How can the ordinary citizens of this country rid themselves of the Hezbollah and ineffective Government. It's very difficult during a war with Israel, started by many of their own Countrymen. I believe that if the Lebanomese Government would demand Hezbollah's agression cease including their disarmenment, the return of the Israelli soldiers, and openly request the assistance of World Governments to aid in their efforts, disaster can be averted. I also believe this will not happen. Let's reconize for what ever reason the Arab people really do not believe the Israellis have a right to exist.

Chris:

Well said. In fact, the reason I wrote the article in the first place was a disturbing lack of understanding I detected regarding Lebanon's impossible situation. About 70% of the people desperately working for democracy with the others having another agenda.

In the end, Israel is solving Lebanon's problems for them - and creating a bushelful more.

Sometimes all of your choices are bad ones. The Israelis have chosen what they feel is the least bad option for them in this case. A sovereign state cannot be expected to tolerate cross-border acts of war to be launched on it's territory and still claim to be able to protect it's own people, which is the primary responsibility of any polity.

Ironically, this only points out that Lebanon is not a sovereign state. Almost everyone who is not an idiot feels sorry for the Lebanese people, including me. What is happening to them is unfair, but it is happening nonetheless, and their inability to compress the time frame needed to firm up their own sovereignty (granted, this was next to impossible) has contributed to Israel's response.

Sometimes it just sucks to be you.
