Democrats have already been making statements regarding Lieberman losing his seniority standing should he win. Why this becomes interesting, rest in the fact that it is possible the Democrats may gain 5 seats in the Senate. this could lead to the mad scramble on the part of Republicans to try to get someone to switch parties in order to maintain a majority. Could the Republicans get Lieberman to switch parties even if it is in name only in order to maintain its majority status? It is the Republicans who are backing Lieberman along with moderate Democrats who would tolerate such a move.
