Foley has resigned in disgrace. He is gone and this is a good thing for the country. It seems Dennis Hastert and the House leadership knew about this and did not do enough to act. At a minimum, Hastert should resign. We expect or should expect much better of our elected representatives than they have have given us. It seems the House leadership knew about this. A complete investigation needs to be done on this and the chips should be allowed to fall where they may. In any event, the Republican party, as it currently is, is unworthy of the positions they currently hold and I expect the voters to vote them out of office this November. When this happens, they have no one to blame but themselves. They fully deserve to lose.

Rank and file Republicans would do much better, if they would simply own up to the mistakes of the leaders and purge them from their midst, however, I don’t expect them to do this. This would require a level of integrity that they don’t seem to possess.
