If you must know, I think this early snap of the universe looks like Keith Haring with very bright paints.

I wish I'd studied harder, too. But scrolling thru your offerings this week (after having been engaged in entertaining visiting family) I must say I feel like a lazy slug compared to oh so lucid and productive you. Drat!
Happy New Year.

Another good read is Creation and Evolution by Alan Hayward.

Even if we discount the 1 in 10e40000 chance of the right combination of nucleic acids and enzymes coming together to form the first single-celled organism in the primordial ooze, ~13 billion years is nowhere near enough time for it to have evolved into the life forms who left their mark in Lascaux, much less those posting on this site.

Here's a quote I heard recently that really puts this in perspective: "The universe is ONE of God's thoughts." Something to remember when we look at these pictures of the immense universe (from our perspective)!

Maybe this is what John was writing about in Revelation when he told of people on earth looking up to see the throne in heaven...

"...we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what’s out there and what awaits us as we begin in earnest to reach out and touch the face of eternity."

Not to be too depressing Rick, but unless we nip the Islamo-Fascist designs in the bud, and soon (as in right now). We won't be reaching out and touching anything (nor progressing in Earthly medical cures either).

It's an odd juxtaposition though, isn't it?
