My father and I both believed this initially, but, as we started watching it at my sister's suggestion, it seems to me that the show jumps between right and left. We are watching the season premiere and so far we have seen conservative tactics used (civil liberties violations via records, phone, etc) but also have seen left-wing objections to Bush-like politics, such as Karen being upset with the presidential aid proposing to construct concentration camps of sorts in major areas of the city. Maybe Jack Bauer appears to be everyone's favorite post-9/11 hero, but I feel that his actions ruffle feathers on both sides of the line. I also feel like 24 sometimes illustrates what our government COULD be like if the government was taken over by political extremists as a warning, and not so much as a reinforcement.
