As was pointed out on another blog, they are starting essentially from scratch. How much experience have they had at self-government? It took our own nation a fair amount of time to do so, and the colonists did have some experience at running their own affairs (with Crown oversight). That a people with no experience at doing so should be expected to come up with institutions and procedures on deadline is the height of idiocy, IMO. The left, however, is so completely invested in the necessity of a defeat for us, that they continue to harp on the failure of the Iraqis to meet said deadlines.
