actually there is a connection to the McCain campaign, as outlined quite clearly on HorsesAss and linked by talkingpointsmemo, huffingtonpost and others. esser's mentor and former boss at the AGO (from where esser continued to draw tax dollars AFTER he became WSRP chair until he was forced to resign due to public pressure) is none other than state AG Rob McKenna -- chair of McCain's campaign in Washington State. i'm no huck supporter, but this one gets a LOT uglier the more you look. pretending its just an amusing result of incompetence really doesn't wash, particularly given the republicans curious caucus rules in this state. they clearly DON'T want the voters picking their party's nominee.

Since Washington is not exactly a Bible belt state, I have some crazy notion that maybe Mr. Esser just might have been afraid that some "backwater Southern Baptist minister" would win the caucus in his State.

This strikes me as something you would read about in a presidential campaign for Mr. Chavez in Argentina.

OK...

Good point, Rick. Never ascribe to malice that for which stupidity provides a complete explanation.

Patriots ahead in the third quarter. Statistics say they always win the fourth quarter. No need to play any longer. Patriots win!
Actually, if Esser is any example, not sure we really want a Republican majority in Washington.
just sayin

I'm going with explanation #1 given their self-defeating actions during the very close governor's race.

This strikes me as something you would read about in a presidential campaign for Mr. Chavez in Argentina. But all is OK. Former president Carter will approve the results.

I wonder if Mr. Esser balances his checkbook the same way?

"See what I mean about him being too stupid to concoct a conspiracy favoring McCain or anyone else?"

That's one hell of a false opposition. You don't have to be smart to conspire, just to conspire effectively.

Now you know why WA hasn't seen a Republican majority (state or federal) since the wheel was invented.
