Some professional advice. (And on this I know what I'm talking about.) Step away, but not too far. Not writing can become a habit. When I'm burned out on writing (books, not blogs, but same principle,) I start thinking through some entirely new project. You need the new idea to water the old ideas. So think about writing a food blog or whatever. The thinking-through is beneficial, and after a while you'll most likely decide, "Nah," and get back to work. But if you disengage entirely from writing, inertia builds up and it's hard to restart that part of your brain.

<em>Sounds like good advice. Thanks.

The strange part is, if Obama's campaign had not taken off we'd all be forced to talk about 'sexism' in America.

I'm 46 and feel like the Progressive party's sexist-racist-classist- environmentalist campaign season is keeping me stuck in a loop of The Rocky Horror Picture Show "Let's do the Time Warp Again" only I've Moveon.orged from the days of the 1970's while the wankers who are singing the song have never changed.

Mike Austin,

I think your last sentence is the crux of this political season. I would add that politicians need not insult me or my intelligence. I know how to interpret information and make the correct choice for myself.

Dear Rick:

You need a break, so enjoy one. I understand, as I have been there too.

It is becoming about impossible to write about race in this nation. Obama, Sharpton and their types keep picking at the racial scab. They make a good living at the ensuing rabble-rousing and race baiting. I for one tired long ago about being charged with racism by black ‘leaders.’

Here is a tip for any political candidate: If you want my vote, don’t insult me.
