Can you try any harder to create an “us” versus “them” mentality here? I don’t really await your response, because it’s predictable. “Look, look, the commenter is doing exactly what I thought he would!” You mean you make a post that tries to mock minorities while identifying Obama with them much stronger than he has ever identified himself as such, and we’re not supposed to call it what it is?

What the fuck do you think a political race is all about except “us versus them” you nitwit? You Obama people scare the shit out of me - looking for a world where everyone agrees about everything - just as long as what people agree on is what you think.

Obama is the one who is playing identity politics - and doing so for the most anti-democratic, dictatorial reasons imaginable; he wants to inoculate himself against any criticism at all. Your candidate’s skin color isn’t at issue; it’s the thickness of his skin. He can’t stand people disagreeing with him.

You have an authoritarian, anti-democratic mindset that makes you more dangerous than Nixon, Bush, and any other 5 presidents put together. Get your head out of your ass and recognize the fact that there are two sides in this debate. Believe what you want but don’t dismiss your opponents as racists or “dividers” of the American people when their only crime is that they disagree with your political views.

Sure, because its impossible that people might actually think that the guy is actually qualified. No, that would be impossible.

This would mean a lot more if so many of you didn’t insist on seeing “evidence” of bad character in the most mundane and innocuous behaviors of people with different skin colors.

Hardly. Senator Obama sat through all the vitriol for 20 years. One can surmise, rather effectively, that he either agreed with what the ‘good’ Reverend was saying or he was balancing his checkbook at the time. Or maybe he was simple ‘asleep’.

There’s no ‘prejudice’ in any of those thoughts. Simple observation. And it has nothing to do with his skin color either.

So….what’s your point? Are you projecting ‘prejudice’ or something else?

There is a world of difference between what is a intellectual exercise - promoting the gold standard - and listening to speeches designed solely to create and amplify racial tensions. A decent person would leave the company of a “mentor” who consistently spewed things the decent person found morally objectionable.

I grew up in the Detroit area, and racial attitudes between blacks and whites were hardened. Among those 30 years old+, I believe the antagonism persists. And that’s among both blacks and whites.

Blacks want “one of their own” to be President - and this is apparently true not just in Detroit but across the country. At least among those whites that I know, there is significant resistance to him because he is black. And these are liberal Democrats I am talking about! They’re not really paying attention to the primaries or election politics yet. This resistance is based on the virulently racist rants of Rev. Wright and Obama’s closeness to it.

I would say that racial politics are all around us on both sides, but I would not call people’s voting plans “racist”. Prejudiced, yes. Racist, no.

Or I can put it this way: I tend to be an Ayn-Randian Libertarian. I am VERY comfortable listening to people rant and rave about needing to return to the gold standard. Yet, were I President, I would never even bring it up, nor would I ever act upon that preference for the gold standard. I should not be judged as intending to implement the gold standard, simply by enjoying being around people who advocate for the gold standard. It’s a prejudice-based mistake.
