Suffer.

Yes. Suffer. You torture fetishists. You fascists.

You did this to this country. You fucked it up the ass until no on could stand it anymore.

Fuck.

You.

Oh yes. I should be Christian about this, just like you are all Christians.

I forgive you.

<em>My how grown up of you. I assume by your comment that you are about 11 years old. I'm sorry, but this is an adult website. You will need a note from your mother if you wish to comment again.

"Conservatism has been the dominant political philosophy in the United States for nearly 40 years. Despite the best of intentions of many conservatives, the country has been run into the ground economically and is seriously lacking in morale and enthusiasm."

"Still liberal" wrote this above and it is absolutely wrong. In spite of nominally conservative administrations, we have continued to run and grow liberal entitlement programs, e.g. Medicare and Social Security, which are poorly designed and will eventually have us go broke. Forget Republican v. Democrat, it is statist hand-in-hand with statist. Every attempt by conservatives to deal with these issues runs into a concrete wall. We have the subprime meltdown which was originated by liberal activist groups and then modified to make sure it would cause harm by the Clinton Admin and then the Democrats who blocked all attempts at reform.

Yes, many Republicans are only faux conservatives, especially Mr. Bush; they have not attempted to slow down the growth of government and in fact have increased its size. But please don't tell me about how Clinton helped reform welfare; I work in an emergency room, and every shift, I see many young women coming in for problems related to their 4th pregnancy, or just to get a pregnancy test (why not, since we pay for it; if they went to a drug store for a home test, heaven forbid, they would have to pay the few dollars for it themselves); and these women are not yet 20, and have no means of support outside of Uncle Sam. (Don't complain about Palin's kid...I'm not being a moralist here, but there is a distinction; her kid is going to be supported by someone other than us, and I am willing to bet doesn't have 4 welfare babies by the time she is 20).

We are running the liberal agenda in this country, have in some form or the other and more or less at times since FDR, but it worsened considerably under LBJ. A Democratic executive and legislator will complete the socialist takeover in this country that couldn't be achieved by revolution or violence. A bloodless coup.

But it's a joke to think we've had a single really conservative administration that really fought enough for conservative principles; Reagan came close. And you know what? The country has been doing pretty well in SPITE of all this until recently, except during the 70's, when Carter worked his horror on us.

I'm sick of hearing how it has been conservatives that are bringing us down. It is the liberals and the liberal agenda and the lack of significant decent true-to-conservatism leaders. If you want to argue about the abortion and drugs and other personal issues...fine, but I'm talking about economic issues, where liberals have ruled.

But we're big-time screwed if we have a one-party rule and that rule is from the Far Left. Does anyone remember when you couldn't walk in New York City safely? That was under Democratic politicians, liberals, David Dinkins. Look at the large cities under Democratic rule..Detroit and Newark and L.A. and many others too numerous to mention. I know the liberals want to project their failure onto the conservatives, but that is utter crap, as it has been liberal policies such as welfare which has killed the black family, has perpetuated black poverty and fostered incredible dependence (with its attendant hostility that it engenders) on the government.

Conservative rule? My ass.

The knee-jerk reaction for most undecided voters is to blame the President and his party for whatever economic problems the country is facing. The economy's going to be shaky for a good while past the election. Let's face it folks, barring something bizarre happening,we're facing a radical, left-wing president and a far-left congress. Fasten your seatbelts because it's gonna be a bumpy ride for the next four to (God forbid) eight years.

I also care more about my personal finances and the economy in general than about Ayers, the Keating Five or Wright. All this is nonsense anyway. What I do care about is a debate about how we get back to a fiscally sound conservative policy.

I love your last paragraph...

"In short, conservatives worst nightmare would be upon us; an ultra liberal president who can do anything he wants...."

Those same conservatives brought us the worst nightmare we are all currently living in. Through support of Bush and the current crop of Republicans in our government, those conservatives, you conservatives - brought everything we have right now. And please Rick, don't footnote that with "rightly or wrongly". You own this. If the economy was flying high right now, you know you'd be tripping all over yourselves to take credit for it..

...Obama will win. And this country is going to be better for it. Really guys...you should be sitting this one out. At least long enough for America to forget what you've done to this country.

You know who you are...

The idea that voters care and even understand fiscal policy is laughable.

So, fiscally responsible Dems, care to enlighten me as to what areas, aside from Defense, where you'd like to make cuts? Oh, no, merely claiming you'll spend the money "smarter" doesn't count.

Go ahead. Let's hear what you Dems wanna trim.

The reason for John McCain's performance in the polls: it looks like we're in the midst of a global financial meltdown; the Dems nor the Repubs control the Asian and European markets, which nearly fell off a cliff.
The Dow came back a bit, but is still down about 500 points. At one point today it was -800.

People nervous about the economy are going to blame the party that holds the White House, fair or not, and trend towards the party out of power. You can talk about Ayers, Rev. Wright or the Keating Five until you're blue in the face, but if people are worried that the money in their bank savings accounts are in jeopardy, they won't listen to you.

<blockquote>"We as Republicans have strayed from our fiscally-responsible roots."</blockquote>

That's a bit of an understatement. <a href="http://kalmquist.blogspot.com/2006/02/era-of-big-government-is-back.html" rel="nofollow">Under Clinton</a>, total government spending grew at a rate of 1.5% per year after inflation. Under Carter, 2%. Under Bush's first term, the growth was 4.6% per year. If Gore had become president instead of Bush, we wouldn't have seen that sort of growth in spending. Gore had no intention of spending as much money as Bush did. Furthermore, he couldn't have spent that much money even if he wanted to because (as we saw during the Clinton years) Republicans would block spending by a Democratic president.

As for your complaint that Republicans don't get credit for all this spending, there's a reason that they don't get credit from the general public: Republicans campaign against big government rather than defending it. For example, in 2004 <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/09/20040902-2.html" rel="nofollow">Bush said</a>, "To create jobs, my plan will encourage investment and expansion by restraining federal spending..." (By "restraining federal spending," Bush meant increasing it by 4.3% in the coming fiscal year.) It's hard to convince the general public of the merits of a policy at the same time you are pretending that it isn't your policy at all.

On the other hand, if you run a company that contracts with the federal government, you don't worry about what the President says. You look at the amount of money that you are getting from the federal government, and if that increases, you presumably express your gratitude by donating to and voting for Republicans.
