		<description>Rick,

This is not germane to the topic but is rather a comment about an article you wrote on AT about the new supercollider.

You said, if I may paraphrase, that the day of discovering new basic principles in a leaky basement is over; that new discoveries can only be found in large, expensive research centers. I humbly beg to differ.

I strongly feel that Mother Nature still has some surprises left for us to find. Some of these may even be discovered in small, ill-equipped workshops run by a cranky old scientist or engineer pursuing an idea or a dream without benefit of government or corporate financing. There is no rational basis for this, it's just a gut feeling. But I'll bet that I am correct!

But in any case I strongly believe that we are just on the footpath portion of the exponential growth curve and we will see some amazing discoveries in our lifetimes that may indeed change the world as we know it.

Thanks Rick! I have enjoyed your articles for many years.
