Heh - no not at all. The people of Europe don’t need Obama to take their own governments to task for mucking things up royally. Just like the people of Lebanon and Iran were completely unaffected by Obama’s Cairo speech. To believe they were is to also believe that the people’s of the world live and die, moment by moment, with whatever the US or Obama says or does. It might surprise some Americans on both the right and the left that unless we’re stomping on them at any given moment, the rest of the world could care less what goes on here.

A little digging found this interview with the artist who made that painting. I was scared it was for real - the artist said it’s a lighthearted parody in the style of a Harlequin Romance Novel cover.

The rape, theft, murder, and domination of Lebanon that followed wasn’t entirely our fault but we had a big hand in letting it happen.

I’m afraid there is more than a bit of truth to what Ledeen wrote. On the other hand, Lebanon has been trending democratic despite what has or hasn’t happened in the United States.
