Rick, I'm enjoyed your inaugural article at the American Issues Project; you have proposed an interesting solution to the public pension crisis. But would this apply to just public sector workers, or could one switch back and forth between private and public sector jobs and keep adding to their pensions?

As for Iran, I believe the Realist direction is the one to take after so many unproductive years playing the Idealist card with an non-cooperative Iranian regime. However, the painful part of your PJM piece was reading the comments; the majority seem to deny the legitimacy of Realism and instead make up their own "reality" of how they imagine the USA/Iran situation to be. With any luck, Obama may end up with a foreign policy record similar to that of of Bush Sr., which would be a pretty good thing over all.

Question: if "by law" - and I'm assuming this is law passed by the various state legislatures - the taxpayers are required to pay these gold plated pensions, then "by law" can't those same legislatures make the "gold plating" go away?

Congratulations on the new gig. They're lucky to get you. But even you can't make me read a piece on public pensions.

The 'stupid baserunning' began with the arrogant belief that his pandering Cairo speech would move mountains.

Note how much Obama uses "I" in statements, as if his personal opinion is all-important rather than the view of the American people or US Government.
