Rick,

I don't know if you saw this but apparently Almeida's character is coming back

http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-24andtonyreturn,0,7320640.story?coll=zap-news-headlines

I don't know how I feel about this. The show may officially jump the shark with this one. I was pretty sure he was dead. There didn't seem to be any doubt and if there was why would they all leave him there? This seems hokey. I hope I am wrong, but this is not a midday soap, people are not supposed to rise from the dead in this show.

An excellent recap showing the layers of a season so different from the others. It's nice to see someone thinking about it beyond the kill counts! :)

And your best line: Audrey is catatonic and Jack is an emotional cripple. They were made for each other.

Too true!

BTW, http://24.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page has ALL the info anyone needs about the incidentals of the show...including Jack's fav gun (hint: SigSauer P228 and Heckler und Koch USP Compact)

Given the comments from Rick and in the talkbacks about the writing this season, I thought I'd pass this on that I heard from Rush today.

He knows Joel Surnow and oh...what's-his-name, the other creator. And he said when he talked/emailed with one of them a week or so ago, they mentioned that this season has been the hardest one to write.

No details, just a tidbit. Or as Paul Harvey would say, just what, not why.

logprof - AHA, that's why when I looked for this post last night, I didn't find it! Humblest apologies, Rick, but I always just look under "24". If it's any consolation, I *always* read *everything* you write for the American Thinker :)

I didn't pick up on Chloe's disappearance. Oh no, I hope she doesn't get killed. But she and Aaron Pierce hold the record for being around and not being killed, don't they? Ah well, that part's been downhill since they axed Tony (the Hunk).

Maybe Little Ricky could die saving her? His letting Jack get to Audrey notwithstanding, he's a jerk.

Rick, a good post as usual but why is this one not under the "24" category?

It's no Glock, that's fer sure. Of course with all the low-maintenance, low-reflective, squared off slides on most of the hi-cap pistols today, they start looking pretty similar. Form follows function, I guess.

I still have an Astraâ„¢ Ultra-Star 9mm in the PC 9+1 magazine configuration. Polymer frame with steel slide, very futuristically styled. Very, very nice and compact and was originally intended to be a 12-shot pistol until the ridiculous mid-90s hi-cap pistol/"assault rifle" ban went into effect. It would make a nice back-up. However, it appears there is a trend even within the military establishment to go back to the venerable .45 Auto round which the SpecsOp community has already embraced. There was a reason for the U.S. Army to adopt the .45 Auto after the failure of .38/9mm to effectively incapacitate the bad guys with the first shot. I'm sure there are a lot of male agents who would prefer the .45 to even the .40 S&W which is really only a short version of the original full-bore 10mm round.

Hank:

I think you're right. Check out the comment in this post left by someone who took umbrage at my ignorance in saying that Jack's favorite gun was a Glock:

How do you keep all that stuff straight? You nailed it, though, good show despite lack of carnage. BTW, what are American agents packing now, is it the .40 cal? I wonder if you can opt for the .45? I have the Springfield Armory XD .45 and having owned a Glock 21, Ruger P-90, Colt 1911A1, and shot a friend's H&K USP, the SA is tops for ergonomics, reliability and accuracy ... but I doubt its been around long enough to get a government contract.

I can't get a good enough look to figure out what Jack's carrying. I suppose I could freeze-frame my DVR but I'm too lazy. It looked like Jack was using a Sig Sauer P226 the first couple of seasons and is now packing an H&K USP the last few seasons. Just a guess. I really enjoy the shooting sports so I can appreciate the hardware these guys pack.
