Here’s a question for all my wonderful little trolls whose comments are not only getting more obscene (they know I’ll delete them if they use profanity) but also more desperate:
If Cindy Sheehan is the “Rosa Parks” of the peace movement, if she’s the second coming of Martin Luther King or the “tipping point” that will energize the anti war movement and turn it into a raging prairie fire that will sweep evil George and his neocons from office, how come there are less than 100 people camping out at salon de Cindee in Crawford?
For God’s sake, Waco, a city of more than 100,000, is just a hop skip and a jump from Crawford. Are you trying to tell me with a city of that size and that close that you can’t even get the local loonies to come out and show their support for Sheehan?
I hate to bring this up, but Rosa Parks brought the entire city of Montgomery Alabama to its knees. And she did it without PR flaks, the international press, or political advice from Joe Trippi. Good thing Trippi wasn’t there. Otherwise, the sainted Mrs. Parks and her cause would be in the same political graveyard occupied by other losing campaigns Trippi has masterminded. Trippi previously worked on the presidential campaigns of Edward Kennedy, Walter Mondale, Gary Hart, and Dick Gephardt – losers all. In fact, looking at that list you realize not one of those worthies even got close enough to smell the oval office.
Hell, even for the daily demonstrations against the war the site doesn’t draw more than a couple of hundred people.
You’d think with all the ink spilled and pixels filled with Cindymania that there would be thousands of lefties down there, screaming their rage and anger at Bush for not doing what they want – which is basically roll over and die.
What’s the matter? Don’t have the courage of your convictions? Don’t want to camp out under the broiling west Texas sun and suffer for the cause? Is the issue of war and peace so unimportant to you that you’re not willing to leave your families, you jobs, all the comforts of home and endure the danger of tripping over a camera cable or getting hit by a speeding satellite truck? Are you afraid you’re going to get poked in the eye by a wayward reporter’s pencil? Does the prospect of being in such close proximity to a bunch of tobacco chewing, bible reading, shotgun toting, red state goobers give you the cold sweats? What’s the matter…
ARE YOU...CHICKENDOVES?
Where’s the spirit that brought us Lenin’s October Revolution? Where’s the courage that gave us Mao’s Long March? Where’s the defiance that fueled the Vietnamese in their quest to defeat the United States – a defiance made easier by your ideological ancestor’s cheering them on while calling for the defeat of the United States armed forces on the field of battle.
Face it. The reason there is no anti-war prairie fire sweeping the country is that you and your lefty friends are a pale imitation of the hard-eyed radicals that manned the battlements in the 1960’s. Those guys wanted a revolution. Your generation complains if there’s no wi-fi access. They wanted to foment mass protest. You people can’t function unless there’s a Starbucks within a couple of blocks. They were readers of Ginsberg, Sartre, and listened to songs by Joan Baez. You guys think addle brained Kurt Cobaine was a poet.
The whole world is watching and you’re sitting in front of your computer writing paeans to a witless, anti-semitic media glutton whose anti-American rants and conspiratorial flights of fancy have driven away all but the most willfully deluded among Democrats.
If you’re so all fired in love with what she’s doing, why aren’t you down there supporting her?
CHICKENDOVE! CHICKENDOVE! CHICKENDOVE!
Abbie Hoffman is turning over in his grave. The Berrigan brothers and other courageous anti-war leftists who were willing to go to jail for their beliefs are weeping in disgust (Note: Philip Berrigan died in 2002). You are shaming the legacy of these people with your cowardice and slavish devotion to comfort and luxury.
And what about your children? What’s the matter, are you afraid to send them to Crawford? Hah! Just as I thought. You’re perfectly willing to send other liberal’s children to stand out in the hot sun, get their mugs on TV day after day, and risk life and limb by taking the chance of having their tin foil hat fall off while mingling with the crush of media folk and other wild eyed leftists. But when it comes to making the ultimate sacrifice and send your kids to man the battlements of the anti-war movement, you balk like the chickendoves you really are.
Get serious, moonbats! Or didn’t you know? There’s a war on!
UPDATE
Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy knows there’s a war on.

This I think covers the obligation of a commander to his troops during and after wartime.
Henry V
ACT IV SCENE I The English camp at Agincourt.
WILLIAMS
But if the cause be not good, the king himself hath a heavy reckoning to make, when all those legs and arms and heads, chopped off in battle, shall join together at the latter day and cry all ‘We died at such a place;’ some swearing, some crying for a surgeon, some upon their wives left poor behind them, some upon the debts they owe, some upon their children rawly left. I am afeard there are few die well that die in a battle; for how can they charitably dispose of any thing, when blood is their argument? Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the king that led them to it; whom to disobey were against all proportion of subjection.
KING HENRY V
So, if a son that is by his father sent about merchandise do sinfully miscarry upon the sea, the imputation of his wickedness by your rule, should be imposed upon his father that sent him: or if a servant, under his master’s command transporting a sum of money, be assailed by robbers and die in many irreconciled iniquities, you may call the business of the master the author of the servant’s damnation: but this is not so: the king is not bound to answer the particular endings of his soldiers, the father of his son, nor the master of his servant; for they purpose not their death, when they purpose their services.
Besides, there is no king, be his cause never so spotless, if it come to the arbitrement of swords, can try it out with all unspotted soldiers: some peradventure have on them the guilt of premeditated and contrived murder; some, of beguiling virgins with the broken seals of perjury; some, making the wars their bulwark, that have before gored the gentle bosom of peace with pillage and robbery. Now, if these men have defeated the law and outrun native punishment, though they can outstrip men, they have no wings to fly from God: war is his beadle, war is vengeance; so that here men are punished for before-breach of the king’s laws in now the king’s quarrel: where they feared the death, they have borne life away; and where they would be safe, they perish: then if they die unprovided, no more is the king guilty of their damnation than he was before guilty of those impieties for the which they are now visited. Every subject’s duty is the king’s; but every subject’s soul is his own. Therefore should every soldier in the wars do as every sick man in his bed, wash every mote out of his conscience: and dying so, death is to him advantage; or not dying, the time was blessedly lost wherein such preparation was gained: and in him that escapes, it were not sin to think that, making God so free an offer, He let him outlive that day to see His greatness and to teach others how they should prepare.
WILLIAMS
‘Tis certain, every man that dies ill, the ill upon his own head, the king is not to answer it.

That’s a lot of lame finger pointing for someone who’s never served a day in uniform.
YEAH! What Randy said! And… And…
that’s a lot of finger pointing for someone who’s never bitten the head off a live chicken…Or…Or…blasted heroin in their nutsack! YEAH! In the Nutsack! You never did that a freaking day in your sissy ass life. Have you?! Well then…what right do you have to any opinion WHATSOEVER.
Truth to power Randy…speak it bitch.

There is another thing missing from Crawford. Military families.
If Sheehan is supposed to be so representative of the mood of America there would be both the Soldiers and military families down there. Fort Hood, one of the largest Army bases in the country is a mere hop, skip and jump away.
After I got out of the Corps I lived in Central Texas, there was a lively antiwar movement in and around Fort Hood. Today? Not so much.

Hello;
Your posts is a bit off on your history.
First off, Rosa Parks was a national effort. The NAACP and every other civil rights organization had been looking for the right candidate to support. About 6 months previous to Rosa Parks another woman refused to give up her seat. But she had a child out of wedlock and they figured that the racists would use that to hammer her with. So while Rosa Parks on her own refused to give up her seat – it was a very careful national decision to make her their symbol.
Second, once the bus boycott started, it was a national effort. Every civil rights organization and supporter lined up to back it. The P.R. effort did not bubble up from the grass roots in Alabama, it came from the top down and in the media outside the South.
As to the small (but growing) contingnet present in Crawford – look back to LBJ and the Vietnam war. One year there were about 25 – 50 people demonstrating outside his ranch. A year later there were demonstrations of 250,000.
Will this be the tipping point that causes a groundswell against the war? Who knows. But just while it would be dumb to be it is, it would also be dumb to bet it isn’t. Because when the citizens of this country decides it wants it’s troops to come home – they will have to come home.
Finally, while I agree totally that someone does not have to serve in the military to set our policy (after all, Bill Clinton did not serve), it does bother me that none of the present leadership has children in the military.
So it’s more of a statistics question – why is it none of them have their children serving? After all, all 4 of FDR’s children served during WWII - in combat.

What the heck does serving in uniform have to do with anything?
How lame.
Come up with something better than that Randy and friends.
Serving in the military is only ONE way to serve your country and is not a requirement for anyone. It is a volunteer force.
1:55 pm
That Rosa Parks comparison really disgusts me in particular. Funny (not really) how they appropriate black history for their causes every time they have something to say.
They really have no idea what they’re talking about, and it’s a complete slap in the face—no, a spit in the face—to the long history of the black civil rights struggle in America. And I say this as a white woman in Alabama, no less.
I wonder if those who coined that phrase even KNOW anyone who CARES about that history, much less had any stake in it. Meanwhile, they freely toss out racial slurs against great black Americans with whom they don’t share political ideology, i.e. Condoleezza Rice. Hell, they’d probably be shrieking “theocrat
” at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. if he were around today because he had the NERVE to invoke the name of God.
Cynical bastards.
2:05 pm
it does bother me that none of the present leadership has children in the military.
Nor did Chelsea Clinton serve. So what?
If the Bush twins suddenly enlisted, would that change your mind about the war, anyway?
Face it, military service has nothing to do with “privilege” or “only the disadvantaged” serving. I enlisted in 1985, and by no stretch of the imagination can you call my background “disadvantaged” or make any accusations that I was escaping anything. My parents could afford to send me anywhere to college, and I went for one year before I joined the Air Force. I was also a National Merit Scholar, so even if they couldn’t afford it, I could have gone to school on academic scholarships (I got very little scholarship money because my parents have too much money AND because my father is self-employed). And trust me, I was HARDLY an anomaly. I knew a LOT of people in the military who came from privileged families.
It’s a volunteer force, people, and NOBODY can force their kids into service. Not even the President, short of a draft. Is that what you want?
If you don’t have any better arguments against the war besides demanding everyone sign up, then you really don’t have anything to say. It’s a stupid argument.
If that IS all you want, then might I suggest you enlist yourselves and work in a recruiting office? Or at LEAST volunteer in one? (After all, the military might not accept you—they DO have standards, y’know.)
Chickenrecruiters.
3:21 pm
We’re doomed! Doomed I say!
What. A. Crock.
3:46 pm
What. A. Crock. is right.
Sorry Randy. “Support violence” is yet another lame argument slung out when reality cannot be grasped.
I served proudly and am a Vet. Injury is why I am not on duty now. Guess that Randy and many like Randy could not make the standard to be in the military.
There are more ways to serve the nation than wearing a uniform.
3:50 pm
THE YOUNG IN THIS COUNTRY TODAY ARE PLAN SLEFISH, THEY PROVE IT EVERY DAY.
WE ARE AT WAR, WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER SERVICE, WHICH AS OF NOW HAS 147,000 U.S. TROOPS IN IRAQ.
THREE QUARTES OF OUR TROOPS HAVE BEEN REDEPLOYED TWO, THREE AND EVEN FOUR TIMES TO DO THIS THE PRESIDENT HAS USED AN OLD LAWS ( STOP-LOSE AND EXSTENDING THERE TOURS).
THE REASON IS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TRAINED U.S TROOPS HE CAN DEPLOY TO IRAQ, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.
BECAUSE OUR YOUNG AMERICANS REFUSS TO ENLIST IN THE ARMY AND MARINE SERVICE AS PROVED BY THE LOW NUMBERS OF ENLISTMENTS IN THE PAST ( 14 MONTHS ).
I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT IF YOU WERE FORCED TO FIGHT A WAR OVER AND OVER WITH OTHERS REFUSSING , WOULD’T YOU WANT TO COME HOME?.
4:04 pm
AND THE RADIO HOST MELANIE MORGAN WHO SAYS THE TROOPS TELL HER THERE ALL PROUD TO BE THERE FOR THE PRESIDENT.
AS AN EX SERVICEMAN YOU HAVE NO FREE SPEACH, YOU CAN’T SAY THE PRESIDENT WAS WRONG, OR THE WAR IS WRONG ,OR THAT YOUED RATHER BE HOME,
IF YOU CHECK THE NEWS AND BOLGS YOU’LL HEAR OF
(SGT. LEONARD CLARK NOW PVT. LEONARD CLARK) WHO WROTE ON HIS BEWSITE ” HE FELT BUSH WAS WRONG, AND THAT HE WANTED TO RUN FOR SENATE IN HIS STATE.
AFTER HE WAS BUSTED ALL HARD DRIVES OF MILITARY SERVICEMAN IN IRAQ WERE TAKEN AND CLEANED, ALL POSTING FROM ANY SERVICEMAN MUST BEREAD BY HIE OR HER COMANDER BERFORE POST.
NOT EVERY SOLDIER IS HAPPY BEING DEPLOYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO IRAQ LIKE MELANIE MORGAN SHE IS LIEING FOR SOME STUPIT REASON . SHE TO HAS NO SON IN IRAQ.

Misspellings, conspiracy theories and CAPS LOCK.
I’m sold.
7:15 pm
I’ll second that, Pablo.
Not to mention “Grandpapete” couldn’t be more wrong about military members’ freedom of “speach” (sic). Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Not to mention there are a million other military “bolgs” (sic) that have freedom of “speach” (sic) and don’t get their hard drives cleaned—the difference being they don’t play fast and loose with the OPSEC rules (which is probably what happened with this Pvt. Clark—not to mention due to the LONG-standing Hatch Act, he’s strictly forbidden from running for office while in uniform).
I seriously doubt “GRANDPAPETE” is even an American, based on 1) his utter ignorance of the laws that everyone else knows about and 2) his pathetic grasp of the English language. Which is fine, being non-American, but might I suggest you mind your own crappy country’s military enlistment issues?
Whadda maroon.

The “chickenhawk” epithet must really sting.
It’s too bad, but I think that what you’ve basically shown is your own moral bankruptcy here: what’s worse- lefties who don’t send kids down to Crawford or righties who chortle on for a bloody war but won’t fight in it?
It’s kind of obvious, ain’t it?
Oh, and Rosa Parks was indeed coached into doing what she did. It was still courageous and noble, but the truth is if you want change you have to attract attention.
One more thing: America’s not supporting you.
5:15 pm
ROTFLMAO! Oh, OH LORD, that is too funny! Mumon, you have that wonderful sense of humor and the sly wit for the perfect parody troll! Oh, gosh that was good…
[/sarcasm]
Gadzooks, Mumon, what the heck are you using for a skull? I think we should find out and manufacture it as head armor for the troops, because if the grenade of Truth won’t get through, those morters (sp?) and IEDs wouldn’t have a chance with our armed forces.
Hey, you could serve by saving a lot of lives that way…
[shaking head] Sorry, Rick, got a little… frustrated there…

Well, congratulations on your wonderful sense of humor.

I can’t take credit for chickendove. That honor goes to I believe Dean Esmay or maybe Austin Bay. When I googled the term they both had the term on their blogs.

Son of a Chickenhawk
In WWII all four of FDR’s kids were in the military. One of them was a ranger and so much in harms way (one time he was part of a small group that went ashore on a Japanese held island)
