IS IRAN'S KHAMENEI DEAD?

In their exuberance to heap scorn on the Administration, and any fellow citizen who voted for Bush in the first place, far too many on the left have become oblivious to the importance of the "information war," which to our success in Iraq is every bit as crucial as anything taking place on the ground there, no matter how that success is defined.

Regardless of the horrors of war and how the atrocities being committed by all involved are being portrayed in the worldwide media, those we are fighting can only become more emboldened when they see Americans so bitterly divided over US policy.

Those who really support the troops would not be stating in their next breath that they are human fodder fighting a war for oil that is doomed to failure.

ELLISON AND THE OATH: A MATTER OF FAITH

a.s.r.r. (#7),

Yes, there is some pretty nasty stuff in the Quran as well, just as there is in the Bible (both old & new Testaments), which is really not hard to find, if you have actually read the Bible including: promises and descriptions of terrible fates for unbelievers and outsiders, advocates for slavery, and lays out the proper protocol for mass murder (hint: in Deuteronomy).

Can you cite some examples of this "pretty nasty stuff" in the New Testament?

Much ado about nothing is right. Keith Ellison is to Mecca as John Kerry is to Rome and George W. Bush is to Oral's Erection. They do not serve a higher power, but rather seek it for themselves.

THE THIRD ANNUAL, BI-ANNUAL IN-HOUSE BLOG BLEG (UPDATED)

a.s.r.r. (#1):

I have been fixated lately on the passing of President Ford. I voted for the 1st time in 76…I didn’t vote for him (and sometimes I regret that!) but it strikes me that he was one of those people that no matter how much you disagreed with him, you had to like him and respect him (has anybody ever heard of a Ford hater?).

The first words out of some peoples mouths in response to Ford's passing? East Timor.

Former President Gerald Ford died last night at the age of 93. We begin our coverage of Ford’s time in office with a look at his support for the Indonesian invasion of East Timor that killed one-third of the Timorese population. We’re joined by Brad Simpson of the National Security Archives and journalist Alan Nairn.

There is definitely a market for some extremely narrow and negative viewpoints within the more mad/rad sects of Liberalianity, and surely this is the type of "analysis" which would appeal to any Ford haters out there.

RELIGION AND POLITICS: INTOLERANCE IS GROWING

Jonathan (#17),

Your comments are relevant w.r.t. rational disagreements, but not so in the context of BDS.

Cheers,

BDS - Bush Derangement Syndrome

Symptoms include the compulsion to treat people who merely voted for the man as criminals, taking the "How Could 58 Million People Be So Stupid" bumper sticker seriously, and not showing up to Christmas dinner at a conservative relative's house.

An interesting survey of attitudes toward religion, politics and the mixing thereof.

http://pewforum.org/docs/index.php?DocID=153

The degree of blind faith is a function of extremism, not of either political ideology or religious persuasion. Hate, intolerance, authoritarianism and over-reliance on dogma/doctrine are characteristic of both the far left and right.

Will a representative of the "religion is the bane of all civilization" sect, with a dysfunctional sense of superiority desperate as it is false compensating for the suppression of their own spirituality, in woeful denial of the havoc their own ego wreaks upon the world, be stopping by to attempt to assert there was perfect peace on earth before religion?

Anyway, everyone has faith in something.

THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY

T.Gray,

Of course the Congress has adjourned after passing the concurrent resolution to end the session.

Again, if you want to play a game of "gotcha" based on trivial technicalities, then please get your facts straight. The 109th Congress was to end on or before January 3, 2007.

Jonathan (#90),

On another note, it’s interesting that no one on the right has addressed the point the Mr Reid is not Majority Leader until 1 January 2007. I would be interested in any comments from the right leaning posters on this site regarding this fact.

The 109th Congress ended on December 9, 2006. Mr. Frist has retired and returned to Tennessee, therefore the honor and duty would fall to the incoming Senate Majority Leader, Mr. Reid.

Those who are so eager to nail Rick on a trite technicality ought take note that Mr. Reid won't have a Senate to be Majority Leader of until January 4, 2007.
