CARTER PROVES EXISTENCE OF A MERCIFUL GOD

Nearly 30 years of peace between Israel, Egypt and Jordan, negotiated by President Carter, is nothing to scoff at - something that Israel appreciated as it fought Hezbollah in Lebanon in the north, knowing that its southern and eastern flank was secure.

THE BATTLE OF GREASY GRASS CREEK

In Gore Vidal's "1876" the news of Custer's defeat becomes public before July 4th, but in an author's note Vidal states that the story actually was withheld until after the holiday so not to spoil the centenial celebration. I doubt Bill Keller would have waited to publish it had he been around then.

HUGH HEWITT: KOOL AID DRINKER OR SAGE OF SAGES?

Far more than Watergate, the factors that gave the Democrats 54 seats in 1974 were double digit inflation, gas prices, and gas lines. Vietnam was a non-issue.

Today we have a war, but aside from gas prices inflation is not high and no one is waiting in line to pay for gas. If the pump price drops below $2.50 by November the GOP is fairly secure.

THE LEFT HASN'T LEARNED A DAMNED THING FROM 9/11

Argentina was friendlier toward Germany than Brazil, which sent an entire division to fight on the Italian front in 1945.

TOP TEN MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS OF ALL TIME

Malcolm Arnold had a distinguished career but "Colonel Bogey" actually was written in 1914 by Kenneth Alford, the pseudonym of Major Frederick Joseph Ricketts, Royal Marines:

I generally don't care for Philip Glass' music but his score for "Mishima" is outstanding.

THE BATTLE OF GREASY GRASS CREEK

It's a shame that custer is so portrayed as such the villian. he is caught, being in the middle of political decisions well beyond his control. soldiers do not make policy, civilian leaders do, and as a soldier you carry out the orders of your superiors to the best of your ability. sometimes the decisions that are made in the field are hasty or incorrect due to limited intellegence that is available or to limited communications. it's easy to secound guess a persons action after the fact. custers' actions may not have been popular or even humane by todays standards but at that time in history, it was considered war. like it or not custer died for your sins. hopefully we learn from his mistakes, I doubt it.

WELCOME DU MOONBATS!

That the Nut is living off money from the govt (and my taxes) via his girlfriend is a bit of a problem for me. I always thought conservatives had a problem with people illicitly mooching off the state. Then again, the standards connies hold others to, and the more lenient versions they reserve for their special selves, are often quite different. Just ask Tom DeLay!

There's a story on Google News this morning about the fellow who put his mom in the freezer after she died so he could continue collecting her Social Security checks. Has anyone checked your freezer lately, Nut?

BBC: "BLOVIATING, BIASED CADS"

Obviously Mr. Hawk hasn't heard the latest. Turns out the hecklers in question were former girlfriends of the would-be PM, and their anger stems from their suspicion that Mr. Howard had not only made off with their knickers and frilly underthings, but that he was wearing them under his suit during the rally. Word is they hoped Mr. Howard to return them.
