DEMS LOOK TO OPPOSE THE SURGE

Kin: Soldiers don't know tours extended

Three days after President Bush's plan to stabilize Iraq with more troops extended the combat tours of 159 members of the New Jersey National Guard, the news had yet to be broken to the soldiers themselves, family members said.

Many of the soldiers, who will remain in Iraq for as much as 125 days longer than planned, still thought they'd be done in March and had already begun to pack for the flight home.

That, as much as anything else, was a cause for anger yesterday as dozens of parents and spouses of the citizen soldiers vented their frustration to Gov. Jon Corzine and senior National Guard officers, who organized three town-hall-style meetings to answer as many of the families' questions as they could.

"I spoke to my son this morning. ... He's already packing. He said, 'I'm coming home in March,'" Rosa Rosado of Newark, whose 23-year-old son Joseph Leon is one of the affected soldiers, said at the West Orange Armory.

Like other soldiers to whom loved ones tried to break the news, Leon refused to believe his mother, dismissing the extension as "rumor" because he hadn't been told of it by his military superiors.

I found an interesting article in Capitol Hill Blue just now:

Pentagon planners this week warned President George W. Bush that his "troop surge" plan could double U.S. casualties in Iraq in the coming year and result in 10,000 or more American deaths by the end of 2008.

In a classified assessment memo, military experts predicted violence against U.S. troops will increase "at a sustained pace" and concluded that increasing the use of soldiers for house to house searches in Baghdad will "dramatically alter" the "ratio of casualties to actions" in that civil-war torn city, says a military source familiar with the memo.

The Pentagon report admitted battle weary soldiers are more prone to mistakes that lead to casualties and noted that military personnel sent to Iraq for third and possibly fourth tours increase the odds that those soldiers will become casualties of war.

MALKIN AND PRESTON IN BAGHDAD

Oh, I forgot to mention:

George W Bush apparently supports and approves of Mr Limbaugh's statement I quoted above.

"The president noted Rush Limbaugh is a national treasure," one senior White House staffer told the Drudge Report.

I plan on posting the reaction from the left to Malkin’s trip to Iraq because these people must be exposed as the ignorant racists they truly are. Ignoring their hypocrisy only makes them believe they are clever rather than pond scum.

Hmmm.. It's been days now and I haven't seen any postings about the leftist reactions to Ms Malkin's excellent adventure.

Could it be that Mr. Limbaugh's quote that I posted above has taken a bit of the scum off the leftist reactions?

Do you know what Disney is called in the entertainment biz?

Mousewitz

Another one I've heard is "Duckau".

The “wink wink death wishes” from the left will come. Steve Audios words aside, many on the left are childish and hateful enough to wish harm on those that oppose them ideologically.

"I tell people, don't kill ALL the liberals. Leave enough around so we can have two on every campus...so we will never forget what these people stood for."--Rush Limbaugh, 1995

Kender: The Limbaugh quote above is not even a wink wink, it's a direct and unambiguous statement of a desire to kill liberals because they differ from him ideologically.

BUSH SPEECH

I find it most interesting that no one here responds to factual and logical posts.

The army's very own training manual on counter insurgency warfare calls for one hundred and twenty thousand troops to pacify Baghdad. And yet, no one here can be bothered to respond to the point, even in the light of the fact that the total number of troops in country is going to barely more than would be needed for Baghdad alone.
