J'ACCUSE: BERNSTEIN MAKES A SERIOUS CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT

It has always been a matter of curiosity (within journalism circles -- the public swallowed it whole) that Bernstein's name was used to co-brand the Nixon exposes. What did Woodward need him for? Obviously, nothing. It had to have been the publisher's decision that more papers would be sold.

ALL POLITICS ARE LOCAL? DON'T TELL THE DEMS THAT

The war (occupation) seems to be going better. U. S. casualties are down and seem likely to go even lower while November approaches. Will this help Republicans? If emotion equals turnout, will a few memorial services (five year anniversary) for 9/11 victims, complete with tapes of airliners crashing into the WTC, get voters motivated? I don't think the Dems should open the champagne just yet.

ANTI-AMERICAN? OR ANTI-BUSH?

Andrew.

Re: "The left certainly has a socialist 'hate America' wing (and think it’s unfair to call them Stalinists. Stalin was more interested in power and control over his people than he was in Communism."

Some people in the U. S. see Stalin as the quint-essential leftist politician. And they know that the "America haters" don't really hate America per se, but merely hate certain prevailing attitudes of the America people. The Stalin administration's method of dealing with inconvenient prevailing attitudes was, of course, Mauser pistol shots in the backs of the heads that held them. We're a long way from the day here when government here controls all economic resources and processes (a pre-condition for the Mauser pistol solution), but it is something to look out for. I've voted Dem, worked for Dem candidates, given money to Dems in the past, and I may do so again, but not until I believe the candidate will keep those Mauser pistols beaten into plow shears.

Left wing liberals don't hate America. They just love themselves.

SHOULD'VE FIRED RUMSFELD - AND THE GENERALS - LONG AGO

The Confederate States of America began its life out numbered nearly two-to-one in potential Army size, out numbered about three-to-one in industrial capacity, and with its ports soon to be blockaded. It could never win a war of attrition and everyone on both sides, including McLellan, knew it. McLellan was technically correct in waiting, and making doubly damn sure that Washington was secure against an invasion from across the Potomac, the only way the Union could lose. Technically correct, as Little Mac soon found out, wasn't good enough. The clamoring public was then (and is today) oriented toward fast results, and the political party out of power is oriented to getting itself in. Thus it is with Iraq. It is impossible for the Iraq War to turn out badly for us. What organized Army in the area has the power to push our garrisons out? None. All we have to do in Iraq is keep the land occupied and, sooner or later, the people will tire of killing each other and settle down. The price we pay is the deaths and maimings soldiers by disorganized snipers and bombers who totally incapable of taking over the Iraqi government. As horrible as the death and maimings are, they pale when one thinks of the price of not staying. More of us were killed at the World Trade Center than have been killed in Iraq. The only way anything bad can happen to us in Iraq is if begin heeding the public and MSM drum beats to cut and run. If we do, then we can put surface-to-air missiles on the Sears Tower, Geiger counters in the New York subways, and Anthrax testing labs along the Los Angeles water canals. But don't expect any of it to work. The only good defense is a good offense. We must batter our enemies and keep battering them, on their turf, so they never get a chance (again) to batter us on ours.

FITZY "CORRECTS THE RECORD"

Mr. Morgan. You are obviously a very gentrified person. All the street wise punks in the land know: there is never, ever any upside in talking to the cops. Never.

KISSING US WITH CONTEMPT

Re: NBC trying to bait NASCAR fans. Is this the same NBC that was smart enough to rig up bombs in GM pickup trucks for filming, but was too stupid to have the trucks crushed and melted?

The Democrat Party of Roosevelt was elites calling from limousines "we're on your side" to people who had hunger pangs and trouble seeing past the ends of their noses. Today, no one is hungry and no one is outrageously ignorant (thanks in no small part to Democrat party successes in distribution of food and education). The Joe Six Pack of the 21st Century has his belly full and understands, if only vaguely, that for there to be a chicken in every pot, someone has to grow the chicken and someone has to make the pot. Problem solved! Except the grandchildren of the FDR elitists now yell from their limos by day and whine over their Pinot Grigio at night that Joe never listens to them.

A FEW RANDOM THOUGHTS ON BLOGGING, THE MEDIA, AND HOW WE GOT OURSELVES INTO THIS MESS

Perhaps a superblog, devoted to listing errors and foundationless assertions, could post falsehood rates (x falsehoods per thousand words), in blogs and MSM outlets. Most people only ever read things agreeing with their exisiting notions, of course, but for those (of any political stripe) who are interested in facts, this might be a service. It would quite an undertaking.
