BLOG STRIKE. MASSIVE DAMAGE. NEWS AT 11:00
This is unbelievable.
A Reuters photograph of smoke rising from buildings in Beirut has been withdrawn after coming under attack by American web logs. The blogs accused Reuters of distorting the photograph to include more smoke and damage.
The photograph showed two very heavy plumes of black smoke billowing from buildings in Beirut after an Air Force attack on the Lebanese capital. Reuters has since withdrawn the photograph from its website, along a message admitting that the image was distorted, and an apology to editors.
DISTORTED! HOW ABOUT “FAKED?” HOW ABOUT “MANIPULATED?” HOW ABOUT “PROPAGANDIZED?”
It appears that someone emailed Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs with some compelling evidence that a Reuters photograph showing smoke billowing from buildings in Beirut was heavily altered. After Charles posted the original story, the blogosphere went to work with a vengeance.
Several bloggers weighed in with their own evidence, including a photographer’s blog who determined that the photo indeed had been altered. From there, the blog frenzy continued with one blogger finding a probable match for the photo that was undoctored. Others weighed in that the photo really was an awful photoshop image, an obvious fake.
The rest is familiar. As more and more evidence piled up, it became obvious that Reuters had screwed the pooch. And the final bit of evidence that sealed the fate of this photo was the photographer in question, one Adnan Hajj, who just happened by Qana at the moment the “rescue worker” in the green helmet was holding aloft a dead child.
Coincidence or collusion between the photographer and Hizbullah?
It certainly raises some interesting questions about how the Qana story has been reported. First the drastically lower casualty figure of 28 instead of 56 and now we have Mr. Hajj and his travelling propaganda show revealed as a liar and perhaps even an agent of Hizbullah.
Read the entire story at LGF and see the genesis of a Blog Strike. It should probably go without saying that the lefty blogs sat this one out, never dreaming that the international media could be playing them for fools. And it should be interesting to see what they’ll be saying about this as the day wears on. Perhaps I’ll post reaction - if there is any.
Kudos to LGF, Charles, and all the bloggers who participated in this exercise in people power at its best.
The lsm in this country and out of the country are trying their best to beat Isreal in the propaganda wars — and the Quana deal needs to be exposed for what it is — pure propaganda — nothing more. !!!!!!
I just can’t imagine the left taking the side of the hezzies but they are — thats all they talked about on c-left spin, span the a.m. — they seem to hate Isreal and their own country, not really sure who they hate more, its real scary.

Bloggers can deconstrut stories and fairytails all day long, but for the average person they have to have some reliance on the msm to provide at least an account they can disagree with.
If we can’t rely on the msm to give at least a reasonable picture of world events, then we are left blind and dumb.
We don’t have a counterculture source, only a counterculter debunking team.
Have we witnessed the death of reporting?
Giving facts to be fairly evaluated is somehow being lost here, and that is a terrible shame.
The MSM will try to shlep their credibilty back, but to most it has all the earmarks of getting your second chance at virginity.

The lefty sites will just cry “Chickenphotograghers” and forgive the poor, Hezz. stringer, because he was driven to it by the evil ZIONISTS! It is all he has to fight back with, don’t you know?
Seriously, I don’t think they will cover it, since it might bring the anti-Semitism bubbling up from their leftist base.

Should we expect anything different from Reuters’ Adnan Riefenstahl?
Adnan Hajj has created a unique gallery of Hezbollah-approvedâ„¢ images that make Beirut look like Dresden. But Hajj never seems to catch a glimpse of those pesky rocket-launchers operating in civilian areas.

The Left’s defense of the doctored photo will be that it still has a high degree of ‘truthiness’, and besides, Bush stole the election.

Faked pics and then some one at Rueters sending LGF this,
A Reuters employee has been suspended after sending a death threat to an American blogger.
The message, sent from a Reuters internet account, read: “I look forward to the day when you pigs get your throats cut.”
It was sent to Charles Johnson, owner of the Little Green Footballs (LGF) weblog, a popular site which often backs Israel and highlights jihadist terrorist activities.
In the threat, the Reuters staff member, who has not been named, left his email address as “zionistpig” at hotmail.com.
Reporting the message to his readers, Johnson wrote on his website: “This particular death threat is a bit different from the run of the mill hate mail we get around here, because an IP lookup on the sender reveals that he/she/it was using an account at none other than Reuters News.”

“Have we witnessed the death of reporting?”
I don’t think so. But what we are probably witnessing is a transformation. In the past the journalism trade was self-policed and engaged in some navel gazing from time to time when something went wrong. Now things are different. There are average people and people with some serious skills that have instant global reach with blogs that are now keeping them honest.
As the media begins to realize that they can’t get away with the stuff they could in the past, we will probably see a more responsible media

Crosspatch
The media may think they have just stubbed their toe, but actually they have suffered damage to a more personal part of their anatomy.
However discrediting the only source of our view of the world as we see it gives creedence to the fact that we are now blind and dumb.
If the MSM is discredited, as well it should be, what is an alternate source to get a view of the world.
They hold us hostage, they have us by the short hairs because of their reach. Sad but true.
Foreign blogs give us a wedge to the alternative sourcing, but even they are trying to get sense out of the reality, a hard task at any level.
We are inundated with a catastrophy of causes and it is hard to select the wheat from the chaff.
Perhaps this may shake out soon, but I think it will result in an extended conflict of logic darkness.

They had a poll during Fox News today asking whether the MSM as a whole treated this conflict accurately… Well, of course they did not. I have watched CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News during this war and the difference is amazing! According to CNN and MSNBC, the Hezibolloh are insurgents, defenders of the Lebanese, freedom fighters, etc. Only FOX has described them as terrorists and fully informed the public of their aims.
It would be only be justice when the rest of the propaganda that CNN and MSNBC spouts is also debunked.
