THE COUNCIL HAS SPOKEN: THE MEA CULPA EDITION

Filed under: WATCHER'S COUNCIL — Rick Moran @ 8:09 pm

Serves me right.

I didn’t get any votes last week for my post. I guess I could blame the Watcher since he picked it out for me. (I even failed to submit a post for the competition.) But that would be unfair. It was probably the one I would have picked anyway.

Suffice it to say, I’ve “weasled” out of posting the results the last two weeks. For that, I am heartily sorry and have promised the boss that I will say three Our Fathers, 5 Hail Mary’s, and 10 Glory Be’s plus do the Act of Contrition on my knees…on a stone floor…wearing sackcloth.

Anyway, here are the results from the last two weeks. Great stuff - even if I didn’t win.

2nd Place: “Tips For New Teachers” by Right Wing Nation

3rd Place: “Obama: “Nobody Is Suffering More Than the Palestinian People”" by Ace of Spades HQ

Also, another long time Council member decided to move on. Jimmie of the Sundries Shack decided to hand in his key to the executive weasel room. I always liked Jimmie’s perspective on things and he will surely be missed.

And taking the place of American Future will be a rising star of the blogosphere, Dafydd of Big Lizards. Welcome aboard!

THE COUNCIL HAS SPOKEN: A TWICE TOLD TALE

Filed under: WATCHER'S COUNCIL — Rick Moran @ 5:27 pm

Dereliction in my duty as a Weaselite cost me dearly last week as I incurred the dreaded 3/4 vote penalty for failing to post the results and not voting.

In order to avoid even sterner punishment, I am posting two weeks worth of results - a task made all the more pleasant by my spectacular win from the W/E February 23.

Here then, are the results. Enjoy.

Results from Week Ending February 23:

Council

1st Place: Yours truly for “A Rock, a Hard Place, and the Deep Blue Sea”

2nd Place: “I’m Tired of ‘Supporting the Troops” by Joshuapundit

Non Council

1st Place: “Islamist Historiography” by Cross-Currents

2nd Place: “No Blogger Is an Island” by Wizbang

Results for Week Ending March 2

Council

1st Place: “Germany and Iraq, Part 4″ by Done With Mirrors

2nd Place: “Means v. Ends” by Bookworm Room

Non Council

1st Place: “The Blame Game” From My Position… On the Way!

A spot has opened up on the Council due to the impending retirement of Marc Schulman of American Future. Mark’s penetrating analysis and excellent writing will be sorely missed. If you would like to be considered for this open spot, go here and follow instructions.

And if you’d like to particpate in the weekly Watchers vote, do as your told here.

THE COUNCIL HAS SPOKEN: DOUBLE-ICIOUS EDITION

Filed under: WATCHER'S COUNCIL — Rick Moran @ 7:23 pm

I missed last week’s Council vote due to one of the occasional bouts of sleeping sickness to which I am prone from time to time. Not the Tst-Tse fly variety but rather another bug that bit me much earlier in life; pure, unadulterated laziness.

Because of this, I must perform the pennance required by the omnipitent Watcher; a double dose of Watcher Council winners.

Long time Council member and dear blogging comrade Dymphna from Gates of Vienna is going to be spending less time blogging in the future. Hence, she has decided to step down from the Council. If you’re interested in serving, please go here and follow the steps outlined.

Dymphna and her partner at Gates of Vienna the Baron are two of the best minds on the internet. And Dymphna is one of the finest writers it has been my pleasure to read. Clarity and reason were the hallmarks of her articles. And her passion is always on display. She pulls no punches and her only enemy is shallow thinking.

A lady. A scholar. A joy. She will be missed.
