THE PUBLIC OPTION: NOT A SLIPPERY SLOPE -- JUST PLAIN LIES

It's good to see that you have woken up and are finally onboard.

When opponents of the Obama Health care talk about a 'Slippery Slope', what they are really saying is that the slope is being greased.

What in god's name are you talking about? "Onboard" what? Opposing reform? Opposing the public option? Are you nuts? Can you read?

Jesus.

CO-OPS NOT THE ANSWER

Chuck Tucson Said:

Why not? Driving companies out of business that fail their customers so completely is about as American as you can get.

Right, the American way is capitalism. The market will fix itself. If a company fails it's customers, capitalism insures that eventually it will fail. Customers will go elsewhere. Companies fail all the time, the problem starts when the government circumvents that process, mettles in a market and props up bad business (see: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the whole banking industry).

Lost in the discussion is the fact that many of the demonized private insurance companies (i.e. many of the BCBS carriers, etc.) are currently not-for-profit and are run with the same basic principles outlined above for the co-ops.

In fact, the BCBS companies almost all grew out of the co-ops of the depression era. They are demonized in the rhetoric of the current reform push, for trying to do the very thing that the reform is hoping to do (i.e. holding down the rising cost of health care). Any government plan (or government supported co-op) would be forced to end up making the same decisions these demonized companies do or it would fail.

Insurance, by definition, is a co-operative enterprise (whether it is for profit or not).

I think everyone can agree that some changes could be made to improve the current Health care system. But, demonizing the private carriers, driving them out of business and replacing them with a government run options is not it.

HEALTH CARE REFORM TEETERING ON THE EDGE OF FAILURE

"Insurance co-ops" = "Public Option"

The differences between the two are just semantics.

Either option means the government controls health care and that is what very few people in this country wants.

If you want to see 'insurance co-ops' at work look at Medicare.

WHAT AILS CONSERVATISM?

I agree with Mae.

Hate to, but I do.

I mean Puh-leeeease don't start that crap about how we found WMDs in Iraq.

We did not find any. It was very embarrassing.

And rising gas prices are Bill Clinton's fault?????!!!!

I was in Atlanta the Day GWB took office and I filled my tank up at $1.73 a gallon.

I do think we are going to have to apologize for what we've done...or rather...for what has transpired on our watch.

Also, was it the Democrats who built New Orleans under water or was it the Spanish and later the French and finally the British? No...it was the Democrats. As Mae said, and as Republican I hate to admit it, but we MUST take some responsibility for this.

AREN'T THERE ANY GROWN UPS IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY?

Michael B

First of all the screaming smearing and swift boating are Karl Rove tactics. Not Democratic tactic. And you GOT TO BE KIDDING that conservatives don't yell over their opponents and give them a fair break. The tactic was invented on Faux News.

How about the 100 or so times a Republican is convicted of a crime and on Fox News he is labelled a Dem ? That's not reasonable. That's dirty old tricks.

The Marines were not exonerated because some of the trials are still going on.

The Republican party has become a pariah not because of big government. But because of corrupt and inept government. Because Republican cannot govern.

It's because we now torture people thanks to Republicans, and hold them without representation and counsel.

You guys are Pariahs for starting a war based on lies, and sending all our tax dollars to Bush's cronies and big corporations.

Republicans have welcomesd anti catholic and anti black "macac yelling" bigots.

I mean really. I love watching you all squirm.

Enjoy

I think you insult everyone in the country when you tell the majority of the voting public, that has been voting in primaries in record numbers btw, that voting their candidate is somehow a vote for the jihadists.

The fact is that GWB has been the jihadists biggest recruiter in decades.

Oh and just a reminder, we were hit on Bush’s watch, even after he was warned. But in your minds ( such as they are) this was all someone else’s fault.

And you wonder why your party is dying on the vine.

Maybe try and have a conversation where when you disagree with someone you don’t end up calling them a traitor or a jihadist.
