NEW CABINET LEVEL DEPARTMENTS CONTEMPLATED BY DEMS

Hey, Bush and Co. have done a marvelous job at increasing the size and scope of the government...they don't need the Dems' help. And anyday now, we should expect them to create the Department of Corporate Welfare, which would certainly include the Office of Lobbyist Collection and Bill Creation.

A NON ENDING TO A NON STORY

Good blog and accurate, too, in the assessment of who controls what we see as news and how they'll handle the Duke case's aftermath. What's worse is the inconceivably heavy coverage of the Ann Nicole Smith death/paternity "stories." She was a D-list celeb. Why the obsessive coverage? FOX "news" has been the absolute worst on this, too. They're crazy with it. (And probably won't stop until they find a way to blame her death or the baby's paternity on Bill Clinton.)

AL GORE: ORACLE? OR BUNKO ARTIST?

Although arguments can be made about the degree of intenseness regarding Al Gore and his message, the same can be said about the overzealous anti-Gore response. Yes, some details about climate change and its longerm effects are debatable, but the vitriolic rhetoric and witch-hunt mentality that backs the global warming opposition seems downright irrational in most cases. You've got to question the motives of those so vehemently opposed to some rather obvious evidence just as much as you question Gore's message.

SCANDAL HYSTERIA GRIPS THE CAPITOL

To be honest, I read the conservative blogs to gauge how much of the dark side of the force the "righties" are employing in their quest to rule the galaxy, but I found a nugget of balance and truth in your recent post about the "purgegate" thing. It read:

"Every single statement uttered by an Administration official is going under the microscope whether they like it or not. And those statements will be twisted, pulled, stretched, spindled and mutilated until the absolute worst possible light can be cast upon them. This is what Republicans did for 6 years during the Clinton Administration and it should have come as no surprise ... that the Democrats would employ similar tactics."

I agree wholeheartedly and whether you meant it in the manner in which I interpreted it, I felt it spoke volumes about the viciousness, hypocrisy and simple ill will both sides have for one another. The left and right, Dems and Repubs are guilty of this, so it is especially disgusting when either side cries foul or acts shocked when it occurs. The different sides, especially in the blogosphere, are so consumed with demonizing the opposition that they have developed tunnel vision and selective memory.

I can't say all of your other blog posts have been as balanced, but I'm giving credit where credit is due.

POPE TRIES AGAIN TO APPEASE THE UNAPPEASEABLE

I would say the next target for the dirty bombs/truck bombs will be the vatican.
The question is will The west surrender at that point or go really on the offense.

CARTER PROVES EXISTENCE OF A MERCIFUL GOD

Robert,

Give President Bush some credit. He's way above Reagan, who "cut and run" from Lebanon, after 241 American Marines were killed by the Hezbollah bomb. Bush would have stayed the course.

Unlike Reagan, who in a 1985 effort to free a few American hostages being held in Lebanon, authorized the sale of 107 tons of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Iran - President Bush stands up to the Iranians, and would never consider appeasement or negotiations, let alone selling them weapons!

President Bush is in a league all his own, high above Reagan.

BLOG STRIKE. MASSIVE DAMAGE. NEWS AT 11:00

The Left's defense of the doctored photo will be that it still has a high degree of 'truthiness', and besides, Bush stole the election.

THE AVENGER (PART II)

Yes, an excellent season finale. It was nice of the writers to tell us that, because the sub was at a commercial dock, security was practically nil. I was thinking several crewmembers might have survived. Nope, only one. That whole Jack/prez forced confessional episode was off-center & couldn't figure out why...until we heard the prez-Martha recording. The whole thing was set up so Jack could plant the recording device, right? Meantime, has the prez been working with the Chinese all along? Mr. Big a part of this plot? How did the Chinese know Jack was where he was so they could make the phony phone call? One of their moles clue them in? And since the call was supposed to be from Kim, who always used a cell phone, why wasn't Jack more suspicious - of that & fact that the call was from his estranged daughter? And who'd have thunk that Chloe had been married? Don't trust her ex.

CAREENING TOWARD THE FINALE

Late comment: Subs are compartmentalized. If some crewmembers were able to close hatches before the gas hit them, they're probably still alive. Whether or not they'll be able to stop B & Co from launching missiles, who knows?

You're right, Steve, I forgot about that probable off-camera demise of Evelyn & daughter. And Humanoid, I too had a thought once that Logan might be trying to sting the baddies, but then we all found out that he the Bad-Guy-In-Chief. His motive? Need for oil security vis-a-vis good of the country?
