'LEAVE BARACK ALONE!'

Rick, you write your aloof comments as though the past eight years never happened. Again, the only reason a guy like Obama is even possible is because Republican rule has been a colossal unmitigated disaster on so many different levels. You mock people for wanting Obama, without recognizing the fact that all they've seen from the other side is failure.

OBAMA IS SO RIGHT...AND SO WRONG

When he said 'as it once was,' I think Obama was referring to the period of time when GWB was not president. I must concede that I totally agree with him on that one.

Here's the thing Rick. Your guys have literally had almost complete control of the country for between eight and twelve years. The Supreme Court, both legislative branches, and the executive. That's not even mentioning all the party loyalists in Justice, Defense, and every other department in the federal government.

What you're looking at right now is as good as the Republicans can do. This is it. The US, in its current state, is the pinnacle of Republican rule. Congratulations on your party. You must be so proud.

THE 'DARK SIDE' OF HELL

Rick,

This piece is brilliant. It highlights a rift in the Republican world that I think people are scared of. This piece ties in perfectly (for me anyway) with your previous writings on patriotism.

This is why I have such a hard time with patriotism. I love my country, but outward displays of said love are marred - for me anyway - because I can't help thinking about stuff like this.

And to everyone with the ticking time bomb scenarios, and the scary 24 plot lines, you know that that is almost never the case. Ever. Instead, think about the lives that have been lost and the time and money wasted by our soldiers and intelligence agents from chasing all the bad intel gathered from torture. What of that?

“We don’t do that. It’s what our enemies do!”

A SERIO-COMIC PARADE OF GOP HOOLIGANS

BREAKING: PULSE DETECTED IN HOUSE REPUBLICANS

"You are mostly correct. I would add that the psychological effect of drilling would dampen enthusiasm for speculation which might represent as much as 20% of the price now – or was at its height."

I agree with that. But, how long do you think that 20% price drop would last? Weeks? Months?

Offshore drilling has nothing to do with the high price of gasoline. The dollar's just worth less.

You are mostly correct. I would add that the psychological effect of drilling would dampen enthusiasm for speculation which might represent as much as 20% of the price now - or was at its height.

ANTHRAX SUICIDE CASE RAISES TROUBLING QUESTIONS

I don't worship Glenn Greenwald, nor do I consider him a hero. However, he does have impressive credentials. I have read some of his work, and greatly appreciated his writings recently about FISA.

If he is factually wrong on issues, then that is a definite problem. I'm not sure what "wrong headed" actually means though. I suppose that it is only natural for you to loath him though, considering your beliefs.

Any linkage to him being factually wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I believe that the anthrax guy killed himself about as much as I believe that the Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so called D.C. Madam, killed herself. Piss off the wrong people, and you will either die, or wish you were dead.

"I would believe Porky Pig before I put any stock whatsoever in anything Glenn Greenwald writes."

Right. Why believe a constitutional scholar, lawyer, best selling author, and first amendment advocate. I'm sure he has no idea what he's talking about.

Oy - he is so full of hot air - debunked a dozen times over by myself and most of the conservative blogosphere - he has no credibility out side of an extremely small group of syncophantic nincompoops. He has been proven wrong on so many issues it is impossible to count - factually wrong and wrong headed analysis.

Find another hero to worship.

ON BEING CALLED A 'RACIST'

Luke,

I have looked at the history of the GOP. Your argument is massively flawed.
