Vice Presidential debates aren’t important! John Edwards didn’t lose any ground for the democrats! Both candidates got in good blows! Kerry still has the momentum! JOHN EDWARDS WON!

If I didn’t know any better, I’d be thinking that the Washington Post, NBC, ABC, NBC (again), CNN, and…oh…I almost forgot…cBS were watching reruns of Gilligans Island rather than the debate last night. Unfortunately, I do know better…which is why in my post last night I accurately predicted what the MSM would be saying about the debate. (I deliberately exclude Foxnews from MSM ’cause, like the late great Rodney Dangerfield, “They don’t get no respect” from the elitist thumbsuckers who pass for commentators and purveyors of our culture.)
Only MSNBC gave it to Cheney…by a landslide. The rest?…Well, let’s just say that if God didn’t make little green apples, and it don’t rain in Indianapolis in the summertime were policy positions of the Bush administration, the MSM would find a way to discredit them.

Ronald Weik wonders about the hacks who ponitificate on behalf of Kerry.
Crushkerry wants a towel to wipe Edwards blood up off the floor.
The Captain has some good quotes from the MSNBC crew who thought the debate should have been called on account of the slaughter rule.
Glen Reynolds has a good roundup from Kerry Spot, et al.
Hindrocket, who appeared on NBC wrap-up has some interesting thoughts…namely, that he would have rather watched the Yankees-Twins game.
Right Wing News has a good wrap up as well as a howler about why Iran, North Korea, and children should not have nuclear weapons.
Protien Wisdom got the contrast just about right:
“Dick Cheney smokes imported cigars, drinks double Scotch neat from a chunky tumbler, and talks to his friends about dames and gams and stock options. John Edwards wants to be a fireman when he grows up. Bless his li’l heart.”
Bill from INDC praises Gwen Iffil (she was very good) and has an amusing take on Edwards.
Finally, Vodkapundit drunkblogged the entire debate and managed some first rate analysis.
There it is…And just for the record, Edwards really didn’t do that badly, he was just totally out of his league. It should be interesting to see if this hurts his chances for 2008.
UPDATE: BUSH CLEANS KERRY’S CLOCK IN PA
In a speech in Wilkes-Barre PA, Bush ripped into Senator Flip-Flop virtually accusing him of (gasp) tailoring his positions on national security to garner votes in the upcoming election.
This, gentle readers, is not a surprise.
What makes this attack different is that Bush has radically sharpened his criticism while trying out some zingers for the Great Debate Round #2 coming up on Friday night. Alternating between sarcasm and disdain, Bush reamed Kerry on Iraq, taxes, healthcare, tort reform (”We need a President who will stand up to the trial lawyers in Washington…Not put one on the ticket.”) and, what he termed a “September 10″ mindset.

I spend a good 10-12 hours a day in front of this screen reading, exploring, and finally putting my thoughts down in this journal. I have to say, I have NEVER come across a clearer, more passionate, more thoughtful essay on WHY WE FIGHT than this fabulous piece by Bill Whittle of Eject! Eject! Eject!.
