SORRY, CHARLIE…YOU STILL DON’T GET IT

Filed under: Media — Rick Moran @ 5:41 pm

Charlie Madigan, columnist for the Chicago Tribune, is one hip dude.

He’s got a blog…sort of. He reads Skankette-what red blooded American male doesn’t (I think it says a lot about the state of our society when men still are in awe of women who make penis jokes in public).

And he thinks conservative blogs drip blood from the corners of their mouths…or is it drool uncontrollably. You decide:

As for the wild-eyed conservatives, welcome aboard.

You finally have a place where you can gas on until you faint.

Sooner or later you will either develop a following or expire from lack of air. Maybe you can ascend to talk radio. Maybe you can disappear. Maybe you can libel someone and get penalized so far back into the economic dark ages that you won’t be able to upgrade your launch platform

You’re right Charlie…I can hardly see straight but for all the gas you’re blowing my way. And since your breathtaking ignorance regarding the Eason Jordan imbroglio is on display for all to see on your “blog” (C’mon Charlie! Get some snazzier graphics! Get some art on there! Too boring…) I’d like to show you what you’re missing. Because, you really are one completely clueless, kool-aid drinking moonbat!

On at least three occassions in the past two years, Eason Jordan has made the same unfounded, unproven accusations against the American military; that journalists were deliberately being targeted for death by US. soldiers. If you are so inclined, you can read the entire story here as researched by blogs all over the world and expertly-dare I say journalistically-set down by Ed Morrissey of Captains Quarters.

The fact that even liberal lawmakers Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Christopher Dodd who were present in Davos, Switzerland when Jordan made these outrageous slanders called the CNN chief to account didn’t make any difference to the mainstream media (come to think of it, didn’t see a post by you on the subject) as they lowered the cone of silence over the story effectively burying it.

We “wild-eyed” conservative bloggers have a lot of faults, I’ll grant you. Why, we can be as sanctimonious and inusfferable as you liberal bloggers…even when we’re right. The point about the Jordan affair is very simple; to this day, the MSM has failed to report why Mr. Jordan needed to go. It wasn’t one comment it was a pattern of saying things in foreign countries about the United States government and its military that were patently and provably false.

In other words, he lied.

I know you think “honesty and integrity” are important. After all, you say that right here in your column:

I’m already wondering whether what I am doing is “right” in the “decent and honest” sense that I have always equated with journalism. Can’t say. I think it’s pretty interesting if you apply the same standards of diligence you apply to newspaper stories, assuming you apply diligence.

The difference is in how you tell it. It’s a lot breezier and a lot easier to read, I think. And you can occasionally say, “Shut up you fatuous gasbag!” or ask, “What do you think?”

Geez, it took me five years at UPI back in the 1970s before I started picking at my own stuff and asking the painfully silly question, “What does this all mean?”

Okay, okay I’ll say it…SHUT UP YOU FATUOUS GASBAG!

The fact that it took you five years to ask yourself a question that journalists should be asking themselves every day doesn’t say much for your “decent and honest sense” now does it?

Finally, we see what your real problem is. It’s a problem taken up by most Philosophy 101 classes at any decent American college; what is truth?

We can either sit back and watch this process continue and wake up some morning to discover our legs have been taken while we slept.

Or we can be fleet.

People who are marketing ideology as truth will eventually go the way of the pamphleteers, I suspect.

What will be left are the people who market truth as ideology.

You want to blog, make that your ideal.

Oh! The hubris! Oh! The stupidity!

Oh my God he’s serious.

People who think they market truth as ideology are to be feared in a republic. As any freshman philosophy student (I’ll leave out theology student in deference to Mr. Madigan’s sensibilities) can tell you truth is an entirely subjective commodity. If it’s truth you seek, read the Bible, the Koran, or Ken Kesey for that matter. Don not read newspapers or watch TV news to try and find it. Whether you’re reading the New York Times or watching Fox News, information is being filtered through several lenses of “truth.” It’s the point old Charlie is missing here and it’s the largest point of all.

Only by exposing yourself to the widest possible spectrum of viewpoints can you discern what the truth for yourself is. This is what blogging is all about Charlie. By reading and writing about issues, you force yourself to examine all sides of an issue before rendering a judgement. It’s why blogging and bloggers will continue to be a thorn in the side of people like you and others who demonstrate a total lack of understanding of the new media.

Novus Ordo Seclorum…”A New Order” now begins.

  1. Basically, I can’t read that kind of horse puckey. They all think that they are so superior, yet when push comes to shove, they don’t have the facts to back up their ‘feelings’ (they don’t have ideas, they have ‘feelings’). Thanks for the update on him, but I think I’ll pass. He’s just another ‘progressive’ intent on tearing this country down. I really wish I could take all the ‘progressives’ in this country and send them to live for a year in North Korea or Chile or even Finland. Then they would get what government oppression is all about. Then they would feel the type of taxation that they talk about, but don’t know about. Then they could really see what it’s like to get the same monthly stipend regardless of if you work your rear end off, or if you merely use it for sitting purposes.
