JOHN KERRY IS A WEASEL

Filed under: Politics — Rick Moran @ 9:08 am

If there were any doubts as to whether the best man won the election for President in 2004, they were dispelled by the announcement by once and future candidate John Kerry that he is now “sorry” for his vote authorizing force in Iraq back in 2003:

U.S. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts on Tuesday told an audience at the liberal Take Back America conference that he was sorry for voting to authorize the war in Iraq, calling the entire mission “a mistake.”

“We were misled, we were given evidence that was not true,” Kerry said. “It was wrong, and I was wrong to vote [for it].”

Kerry, who led an unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2004, said it was necessary to admit mistakes because “you cannot change the future if you”re not honest about the past.” He criticized supporters of the war, who label anti-war activists and politicians as unpatriotic and pessimistic.

Given Kerry’s numerous statements during the campaign in 2004 that he didn’t “regret” his vote to authorize force, one wonders what has changed in the intervening two years. There have been no formal findings that Bush “misled” the country about WMD’s or that Saddam didn’t pose the same kind of threat that Kerry had been talking about for 10 years prior to the war. Hell, Kerry even voted for regime change as a goal of US foreign policy in 1998.

The only “evidence” that has surfaced since 2004 has been in the wild imaginings and conspiratorial nuttiness of the far left whose rantings fly in the face of the known facts as presented by 2 committees of Congress and the 9/11 Commission. Surely Kerry can’t be basing his decision to apologize for his vote based on the selective leaking of cherry picked classified documents by Bush opponents at CIA and other intelligence shops in the government.

What has changed is the attitude of a vast majority of Democratic party activists who have stated flatly that they will not work for a candidate who voted for the war in 2003. This includes the lucrative block of netnuts who can be counted on to raise enough money to give the candidate of their choice a decent shot at upending Hillary Clinton’s drive for the nomination.

These are weasel words from a weasel of a politician who has proven time and time again that he will do or say anything to curry favor with those who can help him politically. It is one thing to do this kind of thing with issues like taxes or spending or some domestic issue. All politicians do it to some degree. But to try and weasel out of a vote taken in 2003 that was based on his past positions regarding regime change and the danger Saddam posed, one should look very carefully at this calculating, changeable man who apparently would sell the security of the United States down the river in return for a few measly bucks.

“Cpl. Joshua Belile thought up the words to “Hadji Girl” in September while drinking coffee with buddies in Iraq.
It was just a joke, Belile says, a play on lines from a movie. His fellow Marines seemed to enjoy the song, so they got Belile u…

  2. Excellent reminder about whom we are dealing with..Security means squat to him ..what matters is defaming our Pres. and hobnobbing with self haters and Hollyweird whackos who spend their time trying to legalize flag burning..great post.:)

  4. Kerry is and always has been a hack politician. It infuriates me that the Ds nominated him in ‘04. The guy is the quintessential back bencher. He would have been a terrible President. Unfortunately for the country, I think he might have been better than the current occupant of the White House. Can we please just get somebody that knows what the hell they’re doing!

  5. Ysterday my 10 year old son read an article on this in our local paper.

At dinner he said, “Mom, thank goodness President Bush won the election. This Kerry guy is against the war.”

9/11 PROFOUNDLY affected my son. He has to read the paper as soon as it comes to check our progress in Iraq. I have to reassure him that we’re winning (how I have the MSM that makes it necessary for me to do that).

When I was a kid, we played cowboys and Indians or Civil War (Rebels vs. Yankees). My kids play terrorits vs. counterterrorists.

    How I loathe Islamists.

  9. Anyone who thinks John F. Kerry would be a better President than our current one has the same problem as Kerry. They do not have a firm grip on reality. Bush is basically an honest man who has accomplished, at least in public life, most of what he has attempted. To deny that is to demonstrate my first premise.

  10. To a Vietnam vet, the only way the Dem’s could have insulted us more in 2004 was if they had nominated Jane Fonda as his running mate! The most telling thing was the fact that most of the men he served with came out against him.

  11. If he’s so sorry about having mismanaged his power, I suggest he resign from office, from public life and from the media spotlight. He can spend the remainder of his years searching for those missing forms he’s having so much trouble finding.

  12. Everyone is ignoring the written record that states that dead “Z’ and the now identified next 500 pound bomb ‘AQ dead’ guy were working togather with Saddam’s knowledge organizing AQ cells in Iraq in “2002″. Ain’t that a little before the invasion without any evidence that Saddam was involved with AQ and 9-11. Anyone still believe that Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11? I believe the order he gave six months before 9-11 to attack American interest around the world included the attack on 9-11. Dim-wits are real proficient at ignoring evidence, but can find a hat from Dec. 1968 that wasn’t given to them by the CIA as ordered by President ? Nixon. They didn’t call him tricky dick for nothing, he managed to slip Hanoi John a hat and take over the white house a month early. LMAO off at the left wings stupidity and their williness to show it before the world.

Which, ironically and tellingly, is exactly what he wants Bush to do, but doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to do himself. Hypocrisy and arrogance. What a putz.

  16. I gotta say I get angrier and angrier as I hear folks hammering people for changing their minds and admitting mistakes. I supported the need to eliminate Iraq as a destabilizing force in the middle east and never believed the BS being slung about WMD and 9/11 since it was obvious talking points. The reality is that the perfumed princes in the pentagon and the chickenhawk warriors have yet again put the troops out on the sharp point in an unwinnable situation. I think we need an honest debate on what to do going forward not partisan talking points form the right and left

  17. Yes, John Kerry is a weasel, but that doesn’t mean that George Bush isn’t. There was no best man that one the 2004 election. They’re both corrupt and incompetent.

  20. There was no best man that one [sic] the 2004 election.

Whose fault was that? The GOP had no real choice in candidate, but the DNC did. Kerry is the best they had to offer? Personally, I was ABB until I saw/heard Kerry. I would have voted Lieberman, given the chance.
