Regular readers may have noticed that posts have been few and far between this week. In fact, yesterday was only the 3rd day since I started this blog more than 2 years ago that I didn’t post a word.

The truth is, I’m a little burned out. Most days I write between 2000 - 3000 words. Usually much more - closer to 5000. I also spend another 8-10 hours scanning and reading blogs, other media, as well as answering 50 or so emails.

Suffice it to say, I’m suffering from mild burnout. I don’t really feel like writing much - something that hasn’t happened before. Can’t get excited about anything lately. In fact, things have gotten downright depressing. However, that’s not the reason I’m taking today off. There’s plenty to write about - just need to get a little motivated to do so.

So I am going to turn the computer off and stay away from it all day and night. Maybe when I get up tomorrow I’ll be re-energized. Or maybe I’ll think I’ll need another day to clear the cobwebs.

In the meantime, why not check out my archives? I’ve got some nice history pieces. And I always thought my Cindy Sheehan stuff was pretty good.

I appreciate everyone’s understanding. Need to get a second wind as we head down the stretch toward November 7.

Okay, okay. I appreciate the expressions of sympathy. I appreciate even more the two-by-four a couple of you whacked me upside my head to knock some sense into me.

My little vacation (which I enjoyed immensely) is over and I will have a typical snarky take on the new “Liberal Manifesto” sometime early this afternoon.

  1. You are human after all! Take that break. Maybe its the upcoming election, but you haven’t written about much of anything except politics for a while. Perhaps an update on space and/or NASA is in order. LiftPort and others have some new stuff on the space elevator that could use an intelligent review.

  3. Okay fine, catch your breath & recharge your batteries. But if you don’t come back & make with the free ice cream, you’ll get written up here!

  4. Check out Rick’s archives for his piece about “live-blogging” the Battle for Gettysburg. It’s a wonderful piece that’s entertaining and educational both.

  5. Hey guy…take a break, but don’t tell the world you are depressed, tired…burned out…folks like me delete you from the favorites list.

    Just don’t write…we aren’t your therapists.
We didn’t ask you to blog. We came to you because we thought you were strong.

  7. OK, it’s been 12+ hours. get over it, suck it up and get back in the game. you didn’t see Peyton Manning sit out to yesterday to clear the cobwebs from his head, did you? You’re as tough as Manning, aren’t you? AREN’T YOU?

Look, I know it’s tough on you superstars to keep yourself motivated, especially when it’s getting late in the game, your team is getting abused and the clock is ticking down. But the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. The bell hasn’t rung. You can’t let the Germans get away with bombing Pearl Harbor.

Get out of bed and get back on the keyboard. Your fans aren’t paying you the big bucks so you can mope around all day. It’s not like there aren’t a few million other blogs we can read while you’re puttering around in the yard. Oh, yeah, there are, but that’s not important. It’s you we want to read. Or maybe we’re just too lazy to change our habits and find someone else with just the right combination of wit and wisdom.

Look, if you don’t get back to giving me 5,000 words, and real fast, I’m going to report you. So there.

And if you don’t, I’ll make sure everybody knows that it was your fault we have to hear the words Madame Speaker for the next two years…
