REDEMPTION: THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE FAMILIAR

24 depicting the UN as some horrible entity is surprising? The show is neo-con porn. If they showed the UN is a FAVORABLE light it would be much more surprising.

SPINNING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC

I don't see how PA is tightening. 4 state polls released today with Obama holding a double digit lead in all of them.

WHO ARE YOU CALLING A MODERATE?

Rick,

Rick,

I think most of your tenets are nearly universal in their support. It is the application of those beliefs that defines a person. I will say that I STRONGLY disagree that American exceptionalism is an ideal to strive for. But that is a different discussion.

The coming war for the soul of the Republican Party is near. Even in the very unlikely case of McCain winning on Tuesday, the party will be in complete disarray.

This will, by neccesity, create a power struggle. Clearly Sarah Palin is looking to become a leader of one faction. And her minions are looking for true believers.

I think that the Fred Thompson wing of the party is still in a state of confusion, as is the country club wing. They will likely not begin to gather their base for the fight until after the elections. Unlike the Palinites, they don't have a standard bearer to look to right now. But they will find them.

RELUCTANTLY - COMMENTS OPEN AGAIN

I find it amusing to see people call you a Democrat, Rick.

While I don't agree with you on most issues, you have always been your own man. And just because you don't conform to orthodoxy, does not mean you are a Democrat.

THE MORAL COWARDICE OF SARAH PALIN

Geez. And you guys wonder why Rick turned off comments. Some of you have no respect for this site.

As for the diary entry, I don't think it was moral cowardice. I believe this is another example of Sarah Palin simply being in over her head. She didn't know the appropriate answer/non-answer to this question. In retrospect I suspect she could answer the question easily. But when the question was asked she locked up and gave a hodgepodge answer.

Had the McCain campaign thought things through they would have been prepping her all summer. She still would have been behind the curve but at least she could have come out a little more prepared.

To be clear, I am not speaking about her intelligence or competence. I am referring solely to her readiness to face the brightest political spotlight on the planet. In 4 years, she may be ready but she isn't right now.

What the Republicans SHOULD have done is have her do the Obama track. Give her the keynote speech and then start to cultivate for 2012. She would have been a formidible force. The question now, is whether she has damaged her brand too much.

HOW TO STEAL OHIO

Rick,

Sometimes I don't get you. Usually you write very sound and cogent stuff.

And then you write things like this.

This entire piece reads like a Republican Conspiracy Theory. Lots of vague accusations with no actual evidence of real wrongdoing that anyone should care about. Words like "apparently" and phrases like "No one knows how" permeate this piece.

What crimes did the Obama campaign commit? Specifics would be nice. Paying money to a ACORN affiliated organization during the primary is not a crime.

Bogus voter registrations will be virtually eliminated by the various Secs of State of the various states. While I'm sure some will get through how is this any different than past elections on both sides?

For much of the past 8 years I have argued with my fellow Liberals that W didn't win Florida because of the Supremes or Katherine Harris, although the Supremes certainly unethically finished the job. Bush won because he was the guy leading to start and it was going to be virtually impossible for the Democrats to overturn that lead realistically speaking.

So now you are showing that Republicans are just as good at the "The other guys stole the election" as Democrats. Heck you aren't even waiting for the actual election to occur before you start making your accusations. You create your own alternate reality in which we have, yet again, an effective tie in the race that boils down to a State that the Democrats hold sway.

I really hope this piece was just a political parody.

ARE CONSERVATIVES ANGRIER THAN LIBERALS?

Politics is politics.

But generally speaking when people don't accept what candidates say but prefer to infer what their beliefs are based on past associations, they are simply looking for a reason to distrust him.

OBAMA IS NOT A SOCIALIST

While I certainly disagree with some of things you say here, it is good to see that the rational Conservatives are keeping their hats on straight.

AYERS-OBAMA: THE VOTERS DON'T CARE

headhunt,

That dog won't hunt. Right or wrong, the American people are going to dump this problem into the Republicans laps. They were in charge for the last 8 years, including 6 years in which they were in complete control.

Trying to say it is all the Democrats' fault is not going work.

I hear a lot about this Fannie Mae link with Obama.

Is this the Jim Johnson/Pierce linking?
