IS 'BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO' RACIST?

The left-wing just put forward the emptiest suit imaginable and he got elected. He is likely to be the greatest fuck up since..well, this Bush and before him Carter. This fuck up in waiting happens to be half black.

Therefore, this is simply a predicate to gin up the Democratic base which very well could be demoralized in 2010. We need not look at this development with despair. No, this reveals well-founded worries that unless the public can be silenced by wolf cries of "racism," the Democrats may face a bloodbath in the next one or two election cycles. This is no time for false bipartisanship. Take out the long knives the first time Obama trips up and never, ever relent. No one knows better how effective this technique is than the left.

I think the Left has about jumped the shark with promiscuous charges of "racism." There are still morons, like John McCain who backed away from a justified focus on Jeremiah Wright, who can be cowed but their numbers dwindle steadily. I think the electorate will turn sharply on the left-wingers and moonbats as it becomes ever more apparent they want to shout down free speech.

WISHING THE GAY MARRIAGE ISSUE WOULD JUST GO AWAY

My thoughts, exactly.

As an aside, if the Left and gay community want to place blame where it squarely belongs, that would be with the California Supreme Court's ham-handed ruling. Just as the USSC's asinine Roe decision made abortion an even more unsettled issue years later, the California high court prompted blacks, Hispanic Catholics, Muslims, Mormons, reactionaires, and people who simply dislike judicial activism to condemn the ruling via the ballot box. Hearts and minds are not won by judicial fiat. Just ask those of us who support choice but hate Roe. We told you so, way back when. My guess is gay marriage is about to become the Third Rail of American politics because the courts chose not to wait on the good senses of the voters.

BLAGO STINK IS EXPANDING

Again, the media's failure to vet Obama probably did him no favors in the end. Stuff those of us in the cocoon discussed endlessly will come across to the average person as fresh evidence Obama is corrupt and so forth. I actually don't wish it, but this probably is a failed presidency at the outset because the more the public will get to know Obama, whether or not his lies are called "misstatements," the more buyer's remorse will set in. This would have happened even without the taint of the Blago scandal.

BLAGOJEVICH: BEYOND 'BUSINESS AS USUAL' IN ILLINOIS

A million dollars for that Senate seat was much too low. Hell, it probably is worth between ten and fifteen million bucks a year from contractors and others while the occupant is in the Senate and once out as a lobbyist. If I had the coin that would have been a great investment opportunity. Obama must have a brilliant scheme to rake in a personal fortune from the Oval Office since he let his Illinois cash cow go.

THE CLINTON CHOICE AT STATE

Gimme a break. This is a reverse Julius Ceasar.

As soon as the media spits out Obama's cum, we will learn--shock, shock, shock--that Hillary is not the Godhead they once told us. Nosirreee. Yep, got to have some honest to God left-winger in that post to sell out America. Joe Biden, come on down..never mind...Eric Holder...never mind...Karl Marx...well, hell, he's dead.

Next. Please take off your nasty shoes at the door.

AMERICA CAN PERFECT SOCIALISM

You wrote:

Face it, we wouldn’t be very good at this. Americans are just too cranky, too much in love with contrariness, too admiring of the guy who marches to a different drummer that anyone we put in charge of of making this an unquestioning, obedient, robotic thinking society would have their hands full.

I once agreed with what you wrote above, but no longer. The long night of socialism began before Obama, but the soft totalitarianism one would find in modern Britain or France originated with him here. I would hope the character you described would reappear, but as someone who has lived in contemporary Europe (and actually absorbed things, versus some commenters above), I can tell you that once lost liberty is a difficult thing to regain.

Let us review. The average American voter just joined the hottest Cargo Cult in town. The object of worship's giant head was projected on massive screens as he uttered banalities that were received as wisdom. Slogans of "change" and "hope" replaced actual policies. People wept as Obama---well, opened his mouth and strung nonsense together. We don't know, yet, what his civilian army will do or how his Chicago thug politics will play out, but we've seen that movie before played in places that once loved freedom as much as America once did.

DISSENT IN THE AGE OF OBAMA

There may be another piece to this puzzle. Even Evan Thomas had to admit there was a "creepiness" exuded by some Obama supporters. What he meant, but danced around, was the Messiah complex. If you criticize someone's personal Messiah, they tend to try to shut you up.

How much of this Obama will denounce I cannot say. But he seems like a very thin-skinned person, and if his personal Cargo Cult could filter out the bad stuff I'm sure he wouldn't mind. The question is whether he would encourage it. I certainly hope he won't.

Bush had ardent supporters but damned if he had cultists.

WILL THE HARD LEFT PUSH OBAMA OVER A CLIFF?

You are absolutely right. The real left-wingnuts will be below the radar, making lives miserable and validating their sense of entitlement to do so. While I think Obama's heart is with these folks, his head is to act the pragmatist with an eye to re-election. If that should happen, God forbid, the Big People's Seats also will be populated with these loons. Oh, and there will be no headlines between now and 2012 about what bubbles beneath the surface, only rants such as yours, also unknown to most voters. It portends badly.

ON BEING NOBLE AND OTHER NONSENSICAL IDEAS IN THE AGE OF OBAMA

We don't know whether Obama is a good man or a bad man. The media utterly failed to scrutinize him. What we do know is he has, in unguarded moments, said ghastly things. He has embraced bad policies. His associations sometimes are beyond the pall. None of this portends well. If Obama is not a socialist, I will be surprised. I also use the term "socialist" distinct from "Marxist." American liberalism has come to resemble the European variety, which is unabashed in its embrace of socialism.

That said, every president deserves a chance to make his case. You are right, though: there is nothing noble in a failure to rebut a bad case and oppose it vigorously. Quite the opposite, I would think.
